9 - Robert Lewandowski

Quotes from Robert Lewandowski's interview today:

Lewandowski: “Every team is strong at in the CL quarterfinals. It's hard to say, but maybe Borussia Dortmund? Wouldn't it be sentimental to go back there as a Barcelona player?

At this stage, one good match can get you pumped for more matches. We realize that there are only top teams in the game and there is no room for mistakes, but this is football and anything is possible.

Our team has potential. There are many great players and our task will be to make the best of what we have. If we use this, we can definitely be dangerous to anyone.”

Lewandowski: “My future? One day somebody writes one thing, next day it is completely opposite. No sense to follow it really. I don’t read it at all. For me everything is clear and there is no doubt where Im gonna play next season. I will stay at Barcelona next season.”

Lewandowski: “The new coach is not our issue in the dressing room at all. Xavi told us several times that this is his decision and it will not change. So we focus on what we can achieve the best result this season with Xavi.”

Lewandowski: "Cubarsí seems to be 26 years old instead of 17 with the decisions he makes. I don't know if I've seen someone with that calm at his age, although on the other hand you have to be patient and that there isn't so much noise around them. They are young and have to work in peace. They have a bright future."

Lewandowski: "I squeeze Cubarsí so that he is ready to face the forwards. We talk a lot, both on the pitch and in the dressing room."

Lewandowski: "Mbappé to Real Madrid? It's not yet official and it's difficult to comment until the announcement is made. So let's wait for it to be confirmed. If he comes, it will be fun to compete against him in La Liga. We are not afraid, I take it positively."

NOT AFRAID OF MBAPPE AT REAL MADRID. ELITE MENTALITY. WILL STAY AT BARCA NEXT SEASON.

A winner. Yeah, he doesn't waste a lot eirher. Had we signed him 10 years ago he'd kill.

Genuine question. In our situation. Who do we replace him with?

Keep him next season. He's been great in 2024.

Develop Roque under his mentorship, give him some playing time and check if he has the ability at this level. What's the point gambling on the kid if he doesn't get a proper crack at it?!

Sell players who can generate money in the summer like Raphinha, Ferran and co. Address the elephant in the room and get a proper fucking DM and RB(unless Cancelo agrees to be the RB) in the upcoming summer window.

Assess the striker situation after next season based on Roque's ability. RL9 can easily do it for another season. Even a washed up RL9 is clearly one of the best shooters and headers on the planet. Barca just don't utilise his shooting ability enough because of clueless tactics by the Chuckle Brothers at the helm and selfish forwards/midfielders desperate to make their mark by scoring instead of assisting.

Barca's immediate focus should be on getting their managerial appointment and DM(and RB) transfer right. They shouldn't, can't and won't do anything for the striker role this summer(RL9 and Roque for another season).

Will be laughed at for this opinion but here it goes:

This might sound cliched but current Barca just have that soft underbelly. Bunch of soft, virtue signalling choirboys. Zero masculinity, grit, passion and cojones. Awful at the dark arts.

Nobody in this team can commit good tactical fouls except Romeu(who's is utterly useless nowadays and doesn't count). The team is so easy to play through. Counter attacks against Barca is piss easy!

No diving, playacting, pressurising the refs, wasting time to defend leads. When RL9 dives and exaggerates contact to get decisions, nobody else appeals for the foul. Lack of spine and leadership. Only Lewy has that winning mentality. Araujo is a tough guy but he's gets too excited and doesn't play dirty. MATS is passive, has zero personality and is a bit of a pussy. Gundogan is a nice guy who quietly does his job. The team needs a few more cunts.

Can't help but think that the team is an extension of the manager's personality. Xavi the holier than thou, Football purist who cannot coach the style of Football he loved all his life and keeps whining on the touchline. Afraid of making bold statements in press conference, always managing expectations........

Xavi has played on and excelled in bigger stages than 'RL9' has ever dreamed about or experienced

Pipe down with these cliched narratives. 'RL9' had a reputation as a whiner on Bayern and has had his share of moments at Barca so far

Xavi been an average to above average coach doesn't mean you gotta dish out your usual anti-Barca troll bile

This season is not lost yet. You can still win the Champions League - it's football, a team game, the mentality of individual players combined with each other gives really high team morale. As for Robert, in Barcelona - maybe apart from a few matches, he is not used at all as he should be. Robert loves long balls behind defenders and fast one-touch play. Notice how many times he got into position, lost energy and the entire Barcelona action slowed down. Additionally, I think that Barcelona should press like in the first 20 minutes of the match against Napoli. These were really quick counter-attacks, Lewy moved to the right, took over the defenders, there was a lot of space. Even if the team loses strength later, it has already scored 2-3 goals. Lewandowski can really give this team a lot of joy for two seasons - he is not used to defeats, he has been a mental winner for 10-11 years. I think a change of coach will help, Barca still has potential, it just needs to be organized well.

Great interview. I would also keep him an another season so Vitor has more time to adapt to la liga. In 2024 Lewa has been fantastic so far.
