Jonathan David is a Depay level of player, although he has real position and role unlike Depay.
He will be a player we will look to upgrade on within a year or two max

If David was available on a free it's a no brainer even if simply from a business standpoint.

He's only 24, has an outstanding goalscoring record in Ligue 1 and will likely have many teams in for him. We would easily be able to move him on for a big fee after he comes here and scores some goals, if that is what we wanted to do. He would also be a great backup and depending on how he develops we could evaluate starting him for a season or two.

Especially in this market where it's becoming tougher and tougher to find any cheap attackers it would be brilliant to bring a young player of his quality in on a free.

Even with Haaland, this club would not have won the leage nor CL last season.
It does not matter how many chances Lewandowski does not convert. What matters is that he has plenty enough of them to win.
Agree 100%, given the configuration of the club's financial status and the player's market supply at the time, he was not the worst option back then.

He is on a good level at the start of this season. What I'm afraid of is that the form might fade like it did in 2022/2023, when he played horribly after new year.
