indeed, Italy, some parts of spain and some countries in Eastern Europe. It is mostly gone but it is horrible to see that racism still prevails in some parts of the world.

There's racism and bigotry - to a greater or lesser extent - pretty much everywhere. Overt displays like the one at Cagliari are thankfully less and less common.

Is that meant to be sarcastic? Racism is rife throught out many parts of eastern Europe. Your telling me you havent known of Russian skinheads, piling in to trams and buses attacking asians and black? It's disgusting and pathetic. The worst banner I had seen was one in italy which read "Peanuts and bananas are the pay for your infimacy." Cant remember what player that was directed towards but he was black.
He obviously doesn't know. In Russia it's particulary strong. They don't owe a colonial guilt to anyone like the English do (who often offload that burden on the rest of us to make it easier on them) so they let their prejudice and chauvinism out much easier.

Yeh, exactly, it can give a really negative image of Russia just because of a select few individuals who are backward in society's way. Did you see Ross Kemp on Gangs: Russia? These far right groups recruit members as young as twelve.
I didn't but I watched various documentaries. They are just more extreme than the rest so to be fair it's not always the racism either. I happen to know that just the other day in St. Petersburg they beat up some Hajduk Split fans in a hotel. Now if they were black...

When I was workin in Moscow, young studs in a day light was just spitting on couple of black dudes in public (just random school boys, students. Imagine skinheads meeting them in the midnight). I would never want to live in Russia for hundred reasons which I saw only in two months stay.
I just hope Fifa won't tolerate racist fans.

Horrible, well racism shouldnt be tolerated anywhere. Im a bit concerned about the Euro's in Poland/Ukraine. You never know when ultras and far right groups can gather in eastern europe, aside from Russia and Poland have a bit of beef with England after past fights, irrelevant to the racism subject but you know what I mean.
Yes Bojan, i'd heard of the Hajduk Split incident. Russia would not be my favourite holiday destination that's for sure.

Well, ok, if you count Russia as Eastern European country... And it's not that I "don't know", it's that I know you're wrong. I think you'll find more skinheads in Germany than in all Eastern European countries combined. I was born and lived in Eastern Europe my entire life. When I was teenager, I knew all skinheads in my home town - Sarajevo, there were 7 or 8 (most kids in my neighborhood listened Sex Pistols and the like, and after awhile that little group turned Oi! and started listening 4Skins, Screwdriver etc.) By the time I stopped being a teen, there were none. There was only one place in ex Yugoslavia that had significantly larger 'skinhead population' and that was Novi Sad in Serbia, and their target were mostly Hungarians who live in that part of Serbia. As for the present... There are many foreigners temporarily living in Sarajevo and they come in all shades and colors, religions, cultural backgrounds etc. There has never been a single act of racism against any of them in many years they spent here. I've never even heard anyone say anything a racist would. And let me remind you that we're among the least civilized countries in Eastern Europe at the moment. We are too busy hating each other to hate people for the color of their skin.

You don't have to be a skinhead to be a racist.
The majority of the people in Eastern Europe are racists by default, even if they look, dress, talk or behave like completely normal people. But the people here ARE racists and I'm talking about huge part of the population. Some in a soft way, some in a harder way. But it's all there and it's a fact.
