9 - Samuel Eto'o

AnfieldEd

I am Leg End
I'm still hoping Eto returns one day in a Larsson role

I can see that happening actually.

I think he wants his final club to be Mallorca (if I am not mistaken) so what better way to wind down his career to make the move back to la liga spend a season or 2 with barca in the larsson role and then go on to Mallorca, where he made his name.

Trequartista

The good
Guys do you think that Messi could have been the same player he is now had Eto'o stayed?
Samu is a Barca legend, probably the best in his position but not so sure on messi developing the way he developed now with someone who is at his best as a main man or not sure on Eto'o being happy to be the second fiddle to Messi had he stayed, and seriously is Eto'o better than Pedro on Villa when he plays on th wings?or you wanted Messi to stay on the wing where could have never developed into the Messi version of 2011
I am sure that the club is playing better than ever and won a lot of trophies since then including a chamions league and Club world Club, dont knwo what could have happened if the club didnt win much after he left with all of this talk now
You Barca fans are sometimes confusing

an expensive mistake but not a mistake that cost us in terms of trophies

Oh, I think that it did cost us one CL...at least partly.

and the economic cost, may cost us trophies down the line...

The Ibra/Eto'o deal will live in the annals of football history as the stupidest move ever...

^^ well said.

sure it was a disaster, a mistake since we traded him for ibra. but the universe was built on mistakes, this one turned out to be a good mistake imo

It may have been a mistake that resulted in Messi scoring more goals, but I am not so certain that it has improved the team overall...

It probably has not Dalitis but it what it is. Eto'o is class and i think he has proved Pep wrong since going Inter. Not often Pepe is wrong but the whole Ibra-Eto'o business is probably his worst experience as Barca manager

Well whats done is done unfortunately. Though to Pep's credit, he never doubted Eto'o's quality as a player. What Eto'o definitely has done in this season with Inter is prove those wrong who said that he would not be as deadly a striker without the service provided by Xaviesta and Messi
