Adrien Rabiot

Miguel Rico did report that the club was getting sick of Rabiot's mom and her son for their non-committed approach at the moment and gave them a week to either get an agreement with us or just piss off.

Not counting this out just yet but going by the recent news with FDJ, it seems that the club are either close to abandoning Rabiot or they flat out pulled the plug.

I would give Oriol Busquets and Puig their chances rather than signing Rabiot. We can then go for a player who can offer physique and height if needed later. Those type of players are not difficult to find.

It would be nuts to count on Oriol and Puig just yet, they are nowhere near as proven in elite football as Rabiot.

....Can you tell me how RM managed to dominate your beloved CL with a midfield trio consisting of a 1.85 meter tall Casemiro as their only DM, a slow and physically weak Kroos and a tiny and slow Modric? Or how we managed to dominate world football with a slow but tall and thin Busquets and small midgets in Xavi and Iniesta who were neither strong nor fast? Your outlook of football is too simplistic and primitive and it shows repeatedly in your views here. A midfield, while being incredibly important, is just 1 part of a team's skeleton. If you have the right skeleton and fundament, even on paper, a physically "weak" midfield, is no stopping block from achieving success and the two most succesfull club teams in this century (us and RM) have proven that time and time again. As well as the Spanish national team and France with their Kante, Matuidi and Pogba midfield.
.

Casmiro is a big, physical defensive mid. Kroos isn't weak. They also had the best backline in football those years, with size, athleticism & depth. They also have size in the forwards both in launching set pieces and defensing them.

Kante, Matuidi and Pogba are also quite physically imposing, as a group very strong and athletic.

Iniesta was very fast, and him and Xavi are exceedingly quick in 1st steps. Besides, in those two and Busquets that is unparalled footballing minds and technique. That is not a model to try to emulate, that may never happen again.

BBZ doesn't watch football, he simulates it in his brain computer

The stats are important to check for bias, e.g. the irrational reactance and lack of balance in seeing the contributions of some players such as Rakitic, Suarez, Pique, Roberto, and the idea the guys on the bench or on Barca B are likely to do better.

I am for buying Rabiot too. That would then allow for selling Rakitic and getting the whole team younger. Quite honestly it would probably wisest to see commands the highest fee and sell Busi or Rakitic (keep one) + Vidal, but I know the former (idea of encouraging Busi to move along) will lead to irrational reaction and bias in the other direction. BBZ data helps keeping it real on the total contributions of players and collective attributes instead of just playing favorites and being sentimental.

Hopefully with Darth de Jong coming it means the Rabiot sage is done and dusted. But who will BBZ wank over then.

I hope this turd keeps on hiding behind his mother's skirt and never comes close to Barcelona.

I'm not too impressed by Rabiot either. He's useful as a benchwarmer, in case of injuries/rest, but I don't see a potential starter in him at all.

BBZ posts are enjoyable though.

He rates himself highly and prides on his arguments, but mostly it is a biased story full of terribly weak causalities and he leaves out crucial information on purpose to paint a better picture!
It's useless, but a lot of fun!

LMAO.

Nothing against you BBZ, but dude asked you what profile, what kind of player Rabiot is and you wrote a book based on tackles, interceptions and clearances statistics.
Mate sorry for being harsh but it's pathetic.

It seems pretty clear that you don't watch Rabiot's games, you just watch his whoscored page. And that's a player you like, you actually like players that you don't watch simply based on their stats. I mean what's your favorite part about football ?

That's genuine questions don't get me wrong.

BBZ still hasn't realised there's a lot more to football than the arbitrarily ambiguous statistics. He'll get there one day.

Lets pray for him.

Like people on this forum mentioned before, stats in Football say only so much. Football is way more complex - regarding the value of stats - than MLB, NFL and NBA.

It doesn't look like we've removed interest from Rabiot btw:

According to reports from Paris, Spurs have officially put in an offer for him, but it is less than what Barca is offering him and it also reports that Barca still have an agreement with him.

Albeit, they haven't reported that Barca have signed De Jong either.

Maybe the club is actually going to get rid of Rakitic and Vidal for FDJ and Rabiot?

I think Rabiot can still be signed. I suspect we are planning to offload Coutinho in the summer. And probably Raki as well.
