How do you know? Any source?

I read that we had to wait till june of next year when we didn't buy him this year, and that it'd otherwise cost us 20-million (well that's his buy-out clause, but he wouldn't be that expensive, just what I read). The buyback had to take place before the opening of the transfer window, somewhere in may-june; but we can buy him back this year.

I've done the research and it's €2.5m in June 2012 - it would have been €1.8m, if had bought him back till June 16 2011. We hadn't so it would cost us €700,000 more next year should we decide to do so. But there are no details about restrictions concerning winter transfer window. I guess we can get him back for pennies this winter. Let's just fucking do it.

Pep isn't a fan. He rather play 2 DM's in Central defense than get this lad home. If pep rated him, this buy-back option would be exercised already. Me think if Fontas fail to impress this season, he'll be loaned and Bartra/Gomez take his place instead.

Fontas is just not that good. Its not just 2-3 games hes played bad, its all! He'll be replaced by Bartra/Gomez soon. And I read somewhere that people in spain are considering botia to be Piques partner for WC 2014. Even homer simpson would be intelligent enough to buy him asap.

I have a similar feeling too... I hope it's not one of those 'great minds are stubborn' case

But Zubi never ruled it out. That still gives me hope

Even if there were restriction that the clause could be activated only in the summer I don't think it would matter much because of the good relations we boast with Sporting... Preciado already confirmed he'd be really happy for the kid if he got the call for Barcelona(he said he feels the kid is more than ready to play for us) even though he'd be missing an important player. I guess it's just that fatherly pride to see the player he developed become a success. He only wished we give one of Fontas/Bartra on a similar deal

I guess as long as there's a masia kid heading there we can more or less buy back Botia for the agreed fee

didn't really play the high line at barca B and hasn't played it at sporting, and is passing is good but not great, probably why pep don't rate him, but i want him back

Maybe he wants Botia to gain 1 more year of experience and give Fontas a chance meanwhile. I mean if Pep got him back this season, he couldn't give both Fontas AND Botia enough playing time. Now he can try Fontas and watch Botia @ Sporting at the same time. And get Botia back in case of Fontas failing.

Was just about to say something similar as I was reading through the posts. However, with Pep possibly leaving next summer, the decision may not be down to him and any input may just be a parting suggestion.
