Remember when people defended Lucho for never giving him a chance and calling him a flop? Fun times. Could've saved 20M.

Remember when people said Lucho made the right decision when Grimaldo wasn't starting for Benfica 3 months after signing?

Even more fun times.

we better fucking sign him back after a season or 2. Pep has already shown interest in him. Lucho is an idiot for never ever giving him a chance

There are string of baffling scewups with this board and Lucho when it comes to the cantera kids, not sure any are more egregious than Grimaldo. I was certain he'd be the youngest defender to ever debut for the 1st team but never even got a chance before being dumped for free. Inexplicable but this board doesn't really care about the club's core values or playing philosophy as you can see with the structuring of the B team which is now a depot for transfers

I'm sure the thinking is that this is the more profitable way to run the club but lost is what distinguished it from others, now we are one of many big corporate entities. There are still young talents in La Masia but we'll see the real impact in 5-8 years from now when less parents will look at the option as the ideal option it once was

Has anyone actually seen him play for Benfica?

We did mess up with him, but well.. we've got Digne now and I don't mind. Saving money on small things while splashing big on other things has been the motto of this board.

If he turns up great, I hope he comes back and the relationship didn't end in bad ways.

While it sucks losing him, I do think him going to Benfica was good for his development than just being a mere rotational player here.

Maybe down the road he could return like Topolino said.

Grimaldo as been a beast since day one with the youth, I remember a youth tournament for Spain a few years back, where he was arguably there best player, he just had problems adapting to top flight football due to is size, but all the ingredients were there for a very good wingback,if they stuck with him, now it's our lost.

Him and bellerin would have been our bf's for years, but they both ended up leaving for different reasons. Kinda disappointing, but such is football.
