I did expect him to get more playing time this season but so far, that doesn't seem to the case. He doesn't even have to be used as backup to Busquets, they could use him like Keita. That would at least make sense. Defending was never even his biggest strength.

I'd actually love to see him back at Arsenal but their midfield is too crowded at the moment. He's too good, too young and too talented to be on the bench for 70% of the season. I'll give him one more season, then I hope he leaves, unless he gets more playing time.

Impressive to be honest. Yes, they were easy passes but it proves he's capable of being composed on the ball.
I thought he did well tonight, as usual. He did look a bit confused in the beginning though.

Maybe he looks confused in the beginning of matches because he gets to play every tenth game? It takes a couple of minutes to find the groove...
That too, but the main reason is that he's not very comfortable playing as a lone DM. Like I said earlier, defending isn't his strongest asset. He's better when he's allowed to attack as well.
Yep, mostly in the beginning of the game. And he did manage to repair his mistakes plenty of times as the game went on but you're right, Song should never be used as a lone DM/single DM.
Overall, I still think he did well.

He was not good today. He is a good player, but he is not a single CDM type of player. After all this time in the team, he continues to play as if he were the attacking player of a double pivot partnership. He leaves the middle of the field too unprotected at times and today in the first half he was all over the place letting attacking players develop through the middle because he was out of position.
He settled down in the second half, but Barca were more dominant then and less was need of him. I would not risk Song as a lone sweeper against any top tier team.

I agree, but thats not double pivot, thats busi playing xavis role.

He deserves to play more. He shouldnt strictly be seen as a sub for Busi. They are both versatile players! And Xavi needs resting.
