This is a super contradictory statement though. You say a La Masia player has to show extraordinary potential to make into the first team and as JDS, Roberto and Fontas all have done so, you're indirectly claming they have extraordinary potenial.

I see. I think you phrased yourself poorly if that is what you meant. But I agree with you, as far as JDS and Sergi Roberto are concerned at least, can't say for fontas, haven't seen him enough.

I would rank Barca's midfielders as;

Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Cesc, Thiago, Mascherano, Song, JDS, S. Roberto

I don't really see why it was necessary to buy someone who is 7th choice. Even if Mascherano plays exclusively at CB I still don't think spending so much on a back up is wothwhile.

You can't just rank them like that.

I assume Tito wanted Song as backup for Busquets, so if we are to rank people assuming it is for the DM position I'd say Tito thinks Busquets > Masch (although he exclusively plays CB) > Song >>>>>>>>>> our other midfielders.

Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Tito experiment with a double-pivot of Busquets and Song @ some point this season.

I think it's a tremendous signing for the club.

Jordi Alba and Alex Song is going to cost the club 7M less than Javi Martinez would have.
