Showboating with shirtless pics every other day and now this doesn't represent humility.
Working hard doesn't equal humility either. Ronaldo also works his ass, you know.

And his statement wasn't bold. He was being delusional and a showoff. It's pathetic really.

Athletes, especially at this level, have every right to be arrogant and cocky because they really are the best at what they do.

However, Alexis is clearly delusional and is in a bit of a denial. The thing I'm getting out of his quote is that he's trying to deny that he's in a dip of form by validating his own talents.

I still think people are making more out of this quote than it needs to be. If it was anyone else in the squad saying that, you wouldn't see many people complaining about it.

he is talented but he shows that talent maybe one in ten games for us, so that jugadorazo comment just strikes a nerve to barca fans in particular. humility will atleast buy him barca fans rallying behind him with support, but this type of comment will not bode well at camp nou when he pulls out another stinker. he shot himself in the foot on this one. when he rated himself at a 6 out of 10 in performance, he got the support. i hope he gets the same level of support from the fans but im not gonna hold my breath.

Big reason why I thought the comments reflected a frustrated player...and I understand it, the pressure was already mounting with Barcelona and then Chile...plus his suspension for the big encounter with Uruguay...And, frankly, not just a frustrated player but a mentally fragile one as we've already seen

Don't confuse American athletes with footballers...the footballers that exhibit that sort of arrogance are vilified for the most part

Keeping/letting alexis leave is a difficult decision at the end of the day. Waiting long for a 35+ Mil player to gel with a team is a problem, however letting him leave to a dark horse in Juventus can pose a bigger threat. Who is to say Neymar will be any different to sanchez? I've watched a couple of neymar's matches and trust me he often falls to his feet a la alexis and drifts out of games. how stupid it would be if we sell alexis and then buy the same problem except this one's a brazillian with a mohawk. I guess certain players need time and love from a club to truly succeed. I remember Xavi and iniesta when they came to the first team and played off the bench, as great as Xavi is now he was average back then and was close to a move to AC milan, Iniesta as great as he is now, struggled to beat defenders cuz he was physically weak now he's raping everyone. IMO the only reason we should sell is if we get a good price, not to a possible opponent and surely promoting deulofeo.

Good point. From a football-based stand point, you're spot on. It might turn out to be the exact same situation. But from a commercial standpoint, Neymar is a very marketable figure, so even if we did spend money on him, I believe his commercial value would cover those expenses. Whereas Alexis' shirt sales and whatnot don't really make up for the 26+11 mil the club spent on him. At least Neymar would have that part covered. So if he did flop, we probably wouldn't lose much in economic terms.

My logic is simple. We wouldn't get much selling him. So keep him and rotate when others are not available. But he should be above of pedro in pecking order based on current barca form.

exactly . The whole situation is like this : We have seen Alexis for 2 years at Barca. Even at his best he is not making the impact he used to make at Udinese ,be it for any reason .Now we have an option to get another Alexis in Neymar (worst case scenario) and sell Alexis while he is rated highly in the market . But the new guy is the most marketable athlete in the world who can pay back his cost in months with the boosted TV and merchandise revenue . Anything we get for our squad will only improve as Neymar develops into a better player .

If you think Neymar will be worse team player as he doesn't work hard for team ,then we always have our youth products like Pedro (his experience at the club makes him better option for our system) .

Having said that I can't imagine Neymar playing at Alexis level .He can score 50+ goals a year ,he is a champion .

Roura, on Alexis saying he is a jugadorazo: I liked he said that, one needs to have a strong confidence. I also think he is one of the best".
