He was trash for Pep, it was his first year he was adjusting and injured.

It was his second year, oh he's played out of position and he's never been a goal scorer.

Third year tactics blah blah blah.

How many damn excuses can you come up with before you lot admit he has just been crap for the most part? Someone said that our front line is 'comparable' to CR-Benz-Bale but that's the problem, when the standard have dropped to comparable being acceptable for us.

From 2008-2012 our attack was miles ahead of RM, now comparable is what we strive for. That in of itself is ridiculous. I can understand the excuses for Messi (even though I must admit he has just been plain out sub-par for his enormous standards - for whatever reason) but for Alexis and Pedro in particular is just lame, and part of the reason we have become so pathetic up front. They just aren't scaring anyone in Europe anymore. Alexis never really did, but Pedro after his clinical finish against United, demanded respect for a long while.

Those days are way over barcaforum. Stop living in the past. Some of ya'll need to wake tf up.

I still do not understand the hate that he gets, he has improved his goalscoring statistics compared to previous years, and yet, people still blaming him, and was the 4th top scorer in la liga

Good post, but Alexis is far more valuable than Pedro. Alexis is unpredictable and actually had a decent season this year.

Even though he really frustrates me at times, the team should keep Alexis.

I don't see it that way. Going into last season, I felt the same (give him one more season) but it's always been about wanting him to be something he's not for Barca and trying to live with what he has given us (which to be fair has been upward progress). Now that we have the opportunity to start over best go back to the drawing board and get wingers who can attack and dribble defenders, most importantly be natural goal scorers. Can Alexis fans really withstand another season of watching him trip over his feet and dribble going the wrong direction? I for one, can not. If I'm a bad Barca fan for that, then so be it.

It's his dribbling that really get's to me too. The guy just can't beat players 1v1 with any sort of consistency. It's a shame too considering what he used to do at Udinese. He can dirbble in open games but against a tight defence he is hopeless. If he stays I hope our new coach gives him orders to stay away from the touchline and operate solely through an inside forward channel.

Gotta love barcaforum. The solution for strenghtening the team? Sell the winger with the best numbers.

With that logic, in early 2000's when we had Kluivert and Saviola, they were our strikers with the best numbers.

In those days, someone could say: "We need to get rid of them and build a new team on some better players" (for example, on Ronaldinho and Etoo in the future)

Someone else, like you today, could have said: "To sell Saviola and buy *better* players? Are you insane? He is the best player in our team currently."

If you get my point. Alexis' numbers only show how poor we are today. If he is our 2nd best player behind Messi.
The guy trips over the ball in every match.

Without getting rid of Alexis and Pedro, we will never get/buy some new Ronaldinho and Etoo.
We will always be stuck with current Saviola.

For example, look at Saviola's La Liga stats from those years:
http://www.espnfc.com/player/_/id/12909/javier-saviola?cc=5739

23 matches, 17 Goals
29 matches, 13 Goals
28 matches, 14 Goals
= 80 matches, 44 Goals in 3 Seasons

Plus, 19 matches, 11 Goals in Champions league.
And 6 matches, 3 Goals in Uefa cup.
= 25 matches, 14 Goals in Europe

But again, he was never good enough to lead us to the glory. Not even in La liga, and especially not in CL.
Then we bought Ronnie and Etoo and turned everything.

If we continued with Saviola and never bought Ronnie and Etoo, who knows how the future would look like and would we won all those La Ligas with Rijkaard and a CL in 2006.

Suarez, Aguero, Reus, Hazard, these guys can't be bought right now, in this fucked up market. Mark my words, if Sanchez is sold, no better player than him will be signed instead. We will be left with Pedro and Deulofeu and probably with Llorente.

What new Ronaldinho and Eto'o? Keep dreaming... I won't try to wake you up. Sometimes, you roll with what you have. And we have Alexis, who's one of the best wingers in the world right now by facts and performance numbers. And his transfer fee is 0 euros. Yea, some dislike his style, some don't like him. Sure, he can be annoying at times, but an objective fan can look beyond his or her's personal preferences. If a player -- any player for that matter -- provides goals and assists like Alexis did this season, that makes him an asset for FC Barcelona.
