WTF is all this shit about SLOW.

If you want a sprinter we might as well buy Bale and play him in midfield.

I don't remember Xavi breaking any sprint records.
.

Xavi was Xavi. We don't play possession football any more and we don't have anyone like him. It's not like we replaced him with Verratti.

We can't carry 3 slow midfielders if we're going to turn over possession all the time. Suarez and Neymar lose the ball every time they get it.

Andre Gomes is not the only one struggling in the midfield, even the old guard is struggling. Busi and Rakitic have been having a rough go all season for Barca, especially Rakitic. So, I wouldn't blame Gomes for all the troubles he is having. I balme Lucho, for some reason this season he has failed to advance or add anything to his tactics. They are boring and predictable, especially when Messi is not there. The midfield has been made almost useless in chance creation and general playmaking. We have become one dimensional again, but this time its longball. This is why we cannot see Denis or Gomes at their best. Look at the midfield combining. No combination between Gomes and Busquets or Gomes and Rakitic.

Another conclusion is that MSN are suffocating the midfield and Lucho tactical variety, but he gets paid to solve problems, so he gets no love from me. One thing I have learned watching new player at barca is that the first year is spent adjusting and unlearning and learning.

It's a struggle because Barca don't keep the ball the way they used to and you're asking a really slow midfield to keep getting the ball back for you when any quick side can bypass them in seconds.

The midfield has been useless in chance creation for ages. Who creates most of Barca's chances? Messi does. Even if they aren't direct assists he's having to drop back into midfield to make things happen.

Remember we've had injuries. We haven't had our best 11 on the field for two games in a row

That's more because of Lucho, than injuries. We may not have had our best 11 on the field very often but Lucho seems to enjoy putting out some of the worst possible lineups he can think of and then subs off Alba for Digne in the second half.

It because what i was talking about. They are positioned so far apart from each other they cannot pass to one another.
It would be like a left back passing to the rightback trough the middle of the feild. And Barca has a wide feild.

Alba and Roberto have more offensive freedom going foward than the MF-s.

Midfielders do what they are told and no matter who Lucho puts on the pitch the pattern remains the same. So no point in blaming Gomes, Rakitic, Suarez ....

This picture sums up everything. You definitely can`t criticize our midfield players after seeing this picture.

Busquets too exposed in the middle, no wonder he makes that many mistakes. No connection between him and Gomes, nor between Gomes and Rakitic. Alba with maybe more touches than our midfield combined. Abusing the pass to Neymar. No wonder Neymar will lose the ball now and then. Pretty bad tactics from lucho.

You are damn right saying it's simply bad tactics.
The pic shows that the midfielders do NOT or rarely move HORIZONTALLY, which is one of the basic offensive pattern since 25-30 years in the game.
Iniesta had two great goals (at the first Clasico last year and then against Celtic in CN) both shot from the right side, which proves he more often moves horizontally. Perhaps it is just this midfield setup with Gomes that changes the very basic tactical setup...
