Gomes is playing like he's wearing ski boots or diving fins.

Slow and clumsy. And unfortunately I'm not seeing any signs of improvement.

Cant watch enough times. Almost makes you cry when you remember what beatiful football we played back then.
Look at the speed and quick movement of Busquetes, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Alves. Staying close together and letting the ball do the work with triangle passes.
90% of the buildup is from Xavi, now his role is completly gone and Busquetes play miles away from Iniesta and Messi. Theres no chance to do anything similiar with the distance between our players.
Messi has to play Xavis role AND his normal role, he has to be 2 players at the same time.
We should have found a player that play similiar (noone can play as good) as Xavi and improved the playstyle that made us the best in the world instead of trying to become RM 2014 with longballs and counterattacks.

Solution; Sell Rakitič to Juve, and go all in for Verratti/Thiago, actually i would love both of them once Iniesta retires as well. I see them as the only players who can restore our midfield to an at least half of what it was with Xaviesta. Same goes for Weigl/Samper when it comes to eventually replacing Busquets. Again, maybe both of them, and play Samper as RCM (as an understudy to Verratti there).

And yeah, i know i'm probably dreaming, but our midfield is just...nothing right now, except for Don of course. It pisses me off that we're wasting Messi's best years with this shit of a midfield. I guess the best Messi years will always be when playing with Xaviesta, scoring wise. While now with MSN although he is maybe even more spectacular than ever (because there's no one in midfield to help him), it still makes me sad since he has to play CM and RW nowadays. With someone like Verratti dictating the midfield like Xavi did, add to that MSN instead of Villa and Pedro (although that attack is pretty hard to beat) and a Messi, none-burdened by always pulling himself back to create a good chance because no one else can't, we'd be unstopabble.

Good points, I agree - but I don't know how realistic the plan is. We have a bigger problem in midfield than we could have had.
Iniestas replacement/supplement is more urgent now, than when Xavi left, and we still don't have any clear answers. Gomes could be better than now, but it would surprise me if he becomes good enough to start in the big matches (unless we become a worse team overall, which of course could happen).
Therefore players like Isco/Thiago/Verratti is needed, but they don't seem that realistic. Lets be honest, if Verratti wanted to play for Barca, he would do that already - he could just refuse to renew and let the contract run down - then he would be here now. And Thiago left himself, even though it was clear that he would get a big role in 1-2 years. I really hope he can come back - Bayern are not the worst to negotiate with, if he agrees to come back.

LOL, look at what I said on page 39 here when we signed the guy. Really unpopular opinion back then, people were really upset at hearing it, but 6 months later, people are starting to turn around. Just like with Paco and Arda. Its really not difficult to predict. These players were average players and never Barca quality. We chose to break the bank for these players and people expect us to improve with those type of signings? Its just mind blowing to me.

Denis has improved himself lately and is a way better fit at rcm when Iniesta is playing. If Gomes is going to play, it needs to be centrally. It's almost like putting Busquets at rcm/lcm.

Some please call Xavi back. He's rocking in Qatar and would probably be better by hopping on one leg that the options we have here.

Even a raki on one foot is better than this walking turtle, one of the worst midfielder we had in Barca history.

40M for this is a fucking crime

I think both are equally unimpressive. And it's also a crime Denis is wearing the #6.
