Andrei Arshavin

And who cares how old is he? Maybe he is a late bloomer? Toni was REALLY unpopular till age 27 or smth like that! And he was THE FIRST player from 50's to score over 30 goals in Serie A in ONE SEASON! He came to Bayern and scored 39 goals in his debut season! Arshavin is even better! When Ribery was young, he changed clubs once in a year or 2 years. But now he is one of the best! Each player just must find his REAL destination to play good!

Viva I refute your statement. Arshavin is a very technically and physically gifted player. His vision and precsion are amazing. And as far as your theory that "if a player was really a good player he would be noticed by the time he's 25." That really doesn't carry any weight. Just because the general public didn't know about his ability then doesn't mean it didn't exist. Furthermore what is to say he just didn't need some time and experience to gain the confidence to play his football at it's full capacity at the highest level. We're now in the age of many players are peaking in their early 20's and getting worldwide recognition by the time they leave their teenage years. Many people forget that a peak age for a player has been 26-29 for much longer before that.
Russian clubs are well scouted I'm just mentioning that if he was that talented he would have been spotted quicker. A scout at Barca went and seen Messi and after 10 minutes of watching him play ( when Messi was 13 ) he decided to sign him. Good players get spotted before they are 25.

He just developed late, which is the primary explanation for him going unnoticed for the early part of his footballing career. And to add to that, he was played in various positions until he was finally given his favourite position at Zenit - so he probably had no rhythm and couldn't hit his stride until he matured a bit. There are exceptions to the notion that "good players get spotted before they are 25" and Arshavin is one of them. Each footballer is different and perhaps because of a series of factors, something happened to 'click' and Arshavin became who he was. Scouting is also different in South America and Russia. I am sure that most clubs have more scouts operating in nice and warm great player breeding-ground South America than in cold and sometimes unwelcoming Russia.
In the end, Arshavin won't become a world number 1, he won't be up there with the Messis and such. Or at least it seems utterly against the odds. But that doesn't mean he can't be a world-class player...

Arshavin's ex-agent was just being a dick. I doubt we have any hope of signing only 6 months after He tried so hard to get himself moved to Arsenal.

I still don't understand why we didn't sign him last summer? Seriously I'm getting a little tired of the "blaaaa we don't use many money on players" shit. Dammit, we'll end up with some shit if we don't pay up.. Not saying we should do the madrid way or anything.. but still.
