that second goal against Atletico Madrid was amazing, Arshavin is of another class. Barca definitely should have signed Arshavin. He would score score at least 20 goals a year in La Liga.

+1

im still hoping we can buy him. Hez a barca fan and if we put in a serious bid for him...we might just get our man :icecream:

I'm not sure if he'd score 20+ for sure

They are my favourite team in the Premier League, yes. But FC Barcelona is number one in Europe/Universe.
I try to watch all of Arsenal's games and with Arshavin playing it won't be boring Arsenal this upcoming season.

But it's sadly a fact that Arsenal still have a defense that is below top 3 quality.
It's like in the match Liverpool vs Arsenal that ended 4-4 where Andrei had to score 4 goals to help a sinking Arsenal.

If the problem of defense isn't solved Arsenal will struggle to reach that much talked about 4th place....

Well we aren't as good as the top 3, but Arsenal are the weakest of the 4.

If we are to go into the CL in the next few years, then it would obviously be them that miss out.

I actually quite like Arsenal, but I'm not going to let that cloud my judgement like you have. Arshavin and Fabregas aren't enough to compete with the top 3.

How can you compare goalkeepers to players? Anyway, Cech's been shit since the collision with Stephen Hunt.

I'm not going to continue this discussion further since you think it's a god-given place for Chelsea, United and Liverpool to be at the top 3 of premier league - before any games have actually been played. Everything is up for grabs and you never know what will happen. Let's see how the table looks after 10-12 games of the season. As of now it's just My Crystal Ball is better than yours.

I think you need to give that crystal ball of yours a good polish.

I don't think any of them have a "god given" right to be there, they have the better players and (imo) the better managers.

Where have Arsenal finished in the last couple of years ? They have also lost 2 good players and haven't even replaced them.

How can you compare goalkeepers to players? Anyway, Cech's been shit since the collision with Stephen Hunt.

They are crucial to a team imo. You can't win anything without a decent keeper.

Come on lad were English we know our game inside out we wouldnt debate Barca with someone from Barca because they know there game .

United , Chelsea , Liverpool are yards ahead at the moment so Blueduck is no fool for pointing it out he is just keeping it realistic mate.

I as a United fan believe City will finish 5th or 4th this season but guess what I dont think Arsenal will finish in either position they will drop down too 6th.

Walcott is shit , Van Persie is always injured and there midfield is full of light weight kids they are in for a big drop this season.

Yeah, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I'm not a lad, I'm a fullgrown man above 40 years of age.
I have followed Barca for a long time, maybe longer than you have followed United.

This year will be a bit difficult for United. But I think and hope Arsenal will surprise everyone.

As this is a Barca-forum, let's assume that followers of FCB would say:
Barcelona and Real Madrid will top La Liga this upcoming season because they did it last year.... gosh what a silly view.
Just like it's silly to hear fans of Premier League pretend that they know how it will end there before it even has started.

In La Liga there's Valencia, Villareal, Sevilla, Atlético and maybe some other teams that will fight hard to stop both Real and Barca from winning.
Nothing is decided. You wait and see. So polish the Crystal Ball a bit better, but there's no 100% truth in what it says anyway.

So that crap about Arsenal is going nowhere have to stop because you're going to eat your words if you dismiss The Gunners from being a threat.
The big problem of Arsenal is their defense, not the midfield or their forwards. If they can sort that out... just wait and see.

This thread of Arshavin has turned into an anti-Arsenal thread. What a shame. Let's focus on the man and his deeds, shall we?

Arsenal didn't have enough quality last season, so what are you basing your hopes on ? They are even weaker than last year as they have lost their last invincible and a first choice striker.

I like Arsenal ffs, so it's not an anti-Arsenal debate. It's a realistic one.

Injuries will decide the season. And the power to break down teams that defend with 10 men.
And the ability of the Arsenal defense to avoid conceding at counterattacks and at set pieces.

Positive changes in Arsenal from last season
Tomas Rosicky is back. Eduardo is back. Theo Walcott is back.
Cesc Fabregas is blooming. He's regularly the best player of Arsenal.
Alex Song has become a good DM-player. But Arsenal need one more DM as a back-up.
Van Persie is NOT injured. Bendtner has improved. Jack Wilshire was MotM yesterday.

And this is Andrei Arshavin's first start of a PL-season.
There will be lot of goals/assists coming from this little brilliant player. I'm guessing 15/20.
Maybe you saw how he killed off Atlético yesterday in the Emirates Cup.
It was like he decided that this is it, I'm going to score the winner. RUN LIKE HELL and BANG.

A possible line-up
---------- Eduardo
Arshavin ---------- Van Persie
------Rosicky - Fabregas
-------- Alex Song

The back four (this is where the trouble could be)

--------Almunia (unsure also about him)
