Confidence is big too. His confidence was awfully low in front of the goal seasons back. Remember that hesitant Iniesta, wonderful as ever, but once in front of the goal didn't know whether to pass or shoot, and almost always opted for passing to someone else. Perhaps it was the WC along with being recognized more by his peers (Ballon D'or top 3 & Europe's best player) because he doesn't sweat it at all now, no problem smashing it in the back of the net. Also, he really is hitting his peek right about now. So lucky to have him in our team.

IMO it was no doubt the World Cup. The change from the end of 2009/10 to beginning of 2010/11 was remarkable. Although his shots in general are still quite poor by his other world class standards, his finishing gets the job done at all the clutch moments. You can see how nowadays he approaches goal-scoring opportunities with such confidence. Slightly lucky finish today though - through the keepers legs.

That turn by Cesc is amazing :worthy: And the finishing :worthy:

Yup. The turn sets everything up (actually, the diving into the pass by the Malaga CB). Once the CB is out of position, the RB has to come over to cover, and Cesc and Iniesta both see the space open. Brilliant by both in technique and field smarts. Goal doesn't happen if Iniesta doesn't pass hard and accurate, and Cesc doesn't stop the pass on a dime (a bobble off the foot, and the CB breaks the play).

And don't forget that goal against Chelsea in 2009 :p
Btw, he never lost a match in which he scored, from what I've heard :worthy: :worthy: :worthy:

Anyone else think that Iniesta is better being back in midfield along-side Xavi, with Fabregas on the left wing?

Cesc and Iniesta switch a lot during the game, so far it looks pretty good and its basically our big game line up where Iniesta is our main man on the left over Villa.
Still it would be nice if they Involve Villa in the starting line up more in future games.

Possibly, but he's doubtlessly better at shooting. Also, Iniesta could potentially be more effective in the crowded central spaces with his superb ball control.
