Older players aren't that big for most kids who didn't witness their glory, with very few exceptions, Messi and CR7 are the ones that will be known names for every kid born from generations alpha and beta or whatever their names are.

It's baffaling to me that someone like Yamal or Cubarsi didn't even really watch Xavi and Iniesta in their peak.

If we are talking about peak, they didn't even watch Messi's peak in a real comprehensive way (2010-2012). Hell, Lamine was 7 during MSN treble, I doubt he remember anything past the goals and wow moments from MSN.

Football and sports are young men's professions. If you last long enough you will play with players who might not have been born during your debut.
