Andrés Iniesta

Camp Nou is a great stadium but it lacks a proper atmosphere like in many spanish stadiums. Fans are lazy in supporting the team.
I envy Dortmund fans, they are so passionate in the stadium.

That's untrue, actually. Dortmund claim to have a great atmosphere but it's alright actually, nothing outstanding unless it's the derby against Schalke or anything. It just looks more impressive but atmosphere-wise Dortmund is overrated.

edit: and speaking of racist: Dortmund has quite the worrying amount of Nazis amongst them who even openly supported right-wing- attitudes without the club properly doing something against them. It is not just Dortmund's problem but they are the most prominent club at the moment regarding this issue.

its really sad that iniesta's dribbles are going waste in those left corners while it could be a match deciding move if in the center of the pitch.
and i will always prefer thiago over xavi to break those buses. he really have stopped giving those killer balls no more.

You mean those useless dribbles that leave hapless defenders in their wake, and result in assists for Messi and the others? Yeah, they really make me a sad panda too. Sniff...

Most of the fans seem to agree that Iniesta belongs next to Xavi in midfield! I hope Villa will be back soon and I hope that Tello or Alexis will play next to Messi and Pedro against Milan..

Most of the fans? More like 1,300 fans. Obviously they have no clue that even when Iniesta starts on the wing he moves to the middle next to Xavi during the match and back & forth. It's called total football.

Plus Andres has more than 3/4 of his assists this season from wing play.

Exactly the problem itself isn't Iniesta lost on the wing, he does just fine whether he starts on the wing or midfield. However Iniesta on the wing means we don't have someone constantly hugging the sideline spreading our width. When he starts out there we lose out on having Tello/villa in the position who will keep our width for 90 minutes.

Seems to have worked well so far i.e. Barça breaking records this season.

Anyway nice to know Barça have the option of either Inesita on the wing or in midfield. Sometimes you need a "plan b".

Again the same story, assists, goals etc. Football is not basketball and statistics do not matter so much for midfielders and certainly they don't tell the whole story. If you can invest seven minutes to watch the wonderful video Iniesta vs Getafe, you will see that Iniesta was involved with pre-assists and crucial passes in almost all the goals and maybe, I say maybe you will understand why he was voted the third best player in the world, while Cesc (I understand he is your favourite player in the whole world, correct me If I am wrong) was not even amongst the top 23 players, despite him having better stats.

Who cares what dumb fans vote? I don't.

OK this is Iniesta vs Getafe. GETAFE. No doubt Iniesta is in the form of his life but this way a lowly Getafe team. Not need to get too excited.

Precisely!

Very good point.

I'm with you here, at least on the first point. It's not like he's ineffectual on the wing, just it doesn't maximise utility of the team's talents!

There's no argument as to where Iniesta is best, clearly it's when he's in the middle. As to what is the best combination, Iniesta and Villa, or Iniesta and Cesc, well that is debateable. Just look at Iniesta's MOTM performance on the wing in the 0-4 thrashing away to Levante. If Villa was on top form then Iniesta in the middle would have a stronger case, but as it is I think varying between the 2 is a good idea. It will provide a stronger element of surprise.

Fair point indeed.
