Andrés Iniesta

It's interesting seeing him for the NT in that Inside-Left/Free Role position. When he plays on the Left for Barca it seems to take something away from his game. I suppose because Messi has the free-roaming role for us and you can't really have two players in the same team performing that role.

Still... It's just magnificent the way he bosses a game in such an effortless manner.

MotM = :iniesta: Worth the admission price, alone. :worthy:

Calma, calma

The only player in world football at the moment who just makes me want to go out and play football until my feet lose feeling. First it was Xavi, then Messi and now definitely Iniesta. Although he might not have been as influential to the result as in previous seasons, his touch, control and dribbling have reached another level this season starting with the Euros.

Reminds me so much of Zidane at times, his technique is the best in the world. Always a joy to watch him play, stat lovers in future years wont have the same idea of Iniesta as to people who saw him play often.

With all due respect, Zidane's play was graceful yet had an aspect of sluggishness to it that Iniesta doesn't. Iniesta is more sure-footed and balanced with nimble feet and sound technique whereas Zidane was a better goalscorer yet more uncoordinated and sometimes sloppy.

The Pale One
Coincidentally, in atunement with his personality, shy and under the radar, so is he as a footballer- you won't often see him on the scoreboard nor racking up huge stats on the stats sheet, nor should you call him a superstar- it just doesn't fit him, even if perhaps he is one. The man doesn't even look like a footballer for crying out loud, perhaps even more reason why they call him the illusionist, cus you are in surprise if you underestimate this timid like, skinny, pale fella. Yet his impact on the field, incredible. If you watch the headlines you'll probably have missed his greatness. No goals or assists in that game, but without his presence Spain wouldn't have been half the team. What class, skill, composure, meticulousness, awareness, touch, patience, intelligence, instinctiveness, creativity, maturity and on and on and on. Masterful from the Don.
