do you think Pique - Fontas would work? they are same type of players....
Well, you have a good point but i'm referring to pre-season and games where you would expect Barca to dominate and not be pressured to much against standard Primera sides. Playing alongside Pique, Puyol or another would be beneficial for him, just to weed himself into the set-up and gain experience. Obviously, in the CL or big Priemra games, can't experiment there

I've been quite impressed with him. There is areas he could work on, but he'll improve on this with first team action. Hopefully he becomes the next big thing from la masia.

I rate him very highly, people complain about his speed but to me he seems like Busquets was when he first started. He seems to have a great football IQ and is always in the right spot to stop passes. We do not need to buy another back up CB cause we have a perfect one for free.

you guys must be crazy to think fontas is up to the challenge.... please i hope you understand that chivas or americas strikers are not madrids or malagas or villareals strikers. We are in deep trouble now.... once again one major mistake to not have gotten a CB because if pique or abidal get injured before el clasico o an important event or game who are you gonna use? mascherano? fontas? please.... we are making a huge mistake to bring in Fabregas instead of bringing the players the team really needs.

I think you are the perfect candidate to create the NTC, Negative Thinking Cules...

Your expectations for a 20 year old? CB to step in and automatically be a Pique/Puyol....he will be 4th at best selection and will get good experience/minutes this year and he is more then good enough for that at the moment. No one expects him to start vs Madrid hahha people need to chill

Do you know where Puyol was at the age of 20?

Just take a wild guess.

Like somebody already mentioned that it is ridiculous to expect each and every player to have the same level our current CB's do. It took a while even for Pique to be awesome, and look where he's at now.

Blooding youngsters in is all what this is about. It still remains to be seen whether Fontás can deliver, but I wouldn't put him down before seeing him in La Liga. He did quite well last year in Liga Adelanta ;)

the biggest thing with Fontas is that he's very composed. he doesn't get rattled, is confident in using the ball, and makes good decisions in terms of tackling and such.

his weakness are his reactions. and I don't just mean his physical reactions, although he doesn't appear to be as quick as Piqué let alone Puyol, Badger or Bilal, but mentally he seems that half-second slower to deal with any problem that arises in defence. he's basically a left-footed version of Chygrynskiy.

this is a contrast to Bartra, who is on anything like white on rice. AND looks composed in regular play. Bartra's problem is he's too psyched, and makes mistakes.

both COULD make it. I think Bartra has a better chance, though, because it's easier to coach mistakes out of players than it is to coach a player to mentally react faster to some shit goin' down. Sergi Gomez seems better placed than both, because from what I've seen and what jamrock has told me, the kid has a very balanced game with no real weaknesses.

That's a really nice breakdown on both Bartra & Fontas, Meta...Concur...I've trusted Fontas more simply because he's less accident prone than Bartra...Funny how Andreu does remind me a little of Cheesuz, but much faster...Bartra, unfortunately, reminds me of Caceres

I can't decide who has a better shot at a future at the club, I go back & forth but right now I'm still backing Fontas
