Ángel Di María

Angel was always a big game player, i don't think there are many players in this generation who performed as well as Di Maria in big matches. Germany was lucky he was injured, he was the only dangerous player beside Messi for Argentinia.

He isnt consistent though, often play like a headless chicken against small/midtable teams and he is already 34 so don't buy.

Di Maria has a different playstyle to that of Bernardo Silva.

ADM's passing and shooting is better(young ADM was a great dribbler too but not that good at carrying the ball anymore); Bernardo Silva is more of a dribbler and can play as a 10 or 8 too. ADM doesn't have the stamina to play as an 8 anymore. But they'll occupy similar areas on the pitch for Barca. The Right Flank to Right Attacking Mid-ish areas probably. Both will have obvious tendencies to drift inwards.

ADM is amazing at set pieces so that's another thing he'll add. But his consistency has declined. Over an entire season, he's suspect as a starter. In big games he'll be more useful than Bernardo. The La Liga/Serie A fits ADM like a glove though and he might hit the ground running.

Bernando is an interior these days and doesn't have the pace nor the explosion to play as a winger.

Di Maria WAS a winger when he was able to still run with the ball.
Nowadays he doesn't have a position in a team that behaves functionally

This is where the Role and Position difference comes in.

Positionally, Bernardo may start as an RW but he's not a wide player so he'll naturally drift inwards into number 10 type positions and areas. Nothing like Dembele.

Barca need a winger with pace who can take players on or stay a lil wide.

If they could afford him, Raheem Sterling would unironically be a very good signing since he has an amazing burst of pace and can take on players and even hug the by-line and play.
