Except that its 4 years instead of 5, his point is still pretty valid though. 25 goals in 4 years is not exactly extraordinary, he could do that even as a constant sub.
That's true but at least we will be paying 70 million for a moderate success not someone who flops big time like Falcao,Shevchenko etc. because if he fails to impress us than we loan him out (will goals for loaned club count?) or cut our losses.The downside of these clauses is that he'll be under extra pressure to impress early on in order to stay at United long term (what if he's just okay and not world class and spurs come in with 20 million bid?We may be tempted to sell him because on top of transfer fee we can also avoid paying the clauses) and talking about national clauses Giroud has played just 39 games for France so far so he'll have to de really well to play 25 times in 4 years considering his age...
