Antoine Griezmann

Hi Devils.

You are still missing the point. While money is part of the game, but us targetting players or to be more precise mercenaries who are in the game only for the money and the lifestyle like Neymar and Griezmann is the wrong policy by Barca's board. Those players wouldn't lose any sleep over missing important games in a crucial month over sister birthday party for example. I remember Redknapp once asked by a journalist before playing Chelsea if his team (he used to manage Spurs at a time) knew that the last time Spurs won at Stamford Bridge was 20 years or so ago. His reply was: "If I said to Assou-Ekotto we have not won at Chelsea, he wouldn't have a clue, He probably doesn't even know we are playing Chelsea tomorrow until we tell him later on. And that is genuine. He wouldn't look at the fixtures. He would turn up and say, 'What time is the coach tomorrow, gaffer?' And that is it. And he will be here, but he wouldn't be sure if we were going to Arsenal or Chelsea."

We don't need players like Neymar and Griezmann because we are more than just a club or we used to in the past. I hope you get it now!

Good morning George.

Griezmann and Neymar are clearly among the best players in the world and have had huge impacts on their teams and any team that has those players are usually favorites in most matches and clearly work hard for their teams and lead them to trophies, so it is a bit unfair to compare them to someone like Assou-Ekotto.

To NOT go for Griezmann at 100m would be stupid, especially in this market. Just like to not go for Neymar, who when at Santos was hailed as the next generational talent in world football, would have been stupid.

Griezmann would have been useful, especially with the condition Suarez is these days and the fact that we were unable to sign him will leave us with a huge financial challenge to replace Saurez in 1-2 years.

Enjoy the rest of your day George!

Haven't seen the video but have heard it's cringy and ridiculous. Maybe we should stay away from these social media addicted idiots like griezmann. I can see why himself and pogba are friends. They are both just as interested in drama as football. Would have liked to have seen him come though as he has alot of quality

They certainly don't help their cause.

In the case with Griezmann, he's going to have a huge target on his back every time Atletico and France suffer because he decided to go and portray himself as some larger than life player who would be making the football decision of the decade.

You pull shit like this, you're going to have to live up to your actions.

One thing that i cant get my head around is that if this guy was available for 100 mill in todays market, why didnt every single big club, including us(Rivalry be damned), fight over him? Why was it just Barca?

I'm sure they did. It just wasnt discussed publicly because it came down to Atletico or Barca pretty clearly.

He said many times how he likes Spain and prefers to stay in la liga so naturally we can assume that Barca was his nr 1 option when we contacted him.

I think there were news of PSG wanting him a time ago but he didnt want to join them and last summer they had other projects as we all know. I'm also pretty sure he wouldn't go to Real Madrid and then it's pretty much just Barca vs PL and it should be clear what the best option here was. United wanted him last year iirc and maybe he would've went there because there probably weren't that many good offers (we still had MSN) but then the ban happened and he agreed to stay raising his clause. After that it was pretty much all about him joining us or not.

Just because it's not all over the press doesn't mean there is no interest or contacts between clubs and players.

I am not surprise.
We do not have "sex appeal" anymore...... Xavi, Iniesta now, Messi 31 y.o., Busquets, Piqué, the dream team is over.... + our ridiculous board without plans, visions, long term vision...
I can understand his choice.

His choice will be based on money and position in the team.

Not as many top players want to come and be part of a system for another player as you would think.

Respect his choice. It's not an easy decision to make. Right now like it or not it's a players market and we don't have as much pull as before to make players sacrifice wage demands significantly.

So they didn't sell anyone and bought Lemar? Didn't they have financial difficulties or something?

It's not like the transfer window ended. Gameiro, Vietto, Savic, Vrsaljko all could leave, Atleti are still looking for another RB and maybe a forward
