Antoine Griezmann

I get only bad vibes from him, he would make us much better but we would be less of a team, no need those superstars living in a bubble.

He wouldn't even make us better. Valverde won't bench Suarez. We would just play Griezmann, Suarez, Messi together in a 4-3-3 wondering why it doesn't really work.

I wasn't against signing him last summer but now that Ernie finally accepted that Dembele is a great player i don't want to give him any reason to bench him at all cost. Also he is now older, on a higher fee AND much much higher salary so fuck that. We shouldn't get rid of one super expensive player we don't really need just to pay for the next super expensive player we don't really need.

No fee reported, right? Could be that we negotiated a better price, then. 80M€ and lower wages than we offered last year, and I would take him.

We don't know how much Valverde loves Suarez. We only know that he didn't like Paco and don't like Malcom. I would say that playing Griezmann as 9 is possible in our system with Messi to the right/CF-player and Dembele on the left. Why are people assuming he would play like in Atletico - they play a totally different system than us!

I won't believe the rumour before multiple media reports it, though.

The thing is, Griezmann doesn't do well as a 9 at all. He needs someone in front of him, he excels in Messi's position, a false 9 or a 10.

I wouldn't want him here at all.

Can't see how Griezmann and Messi would work together. Unless we go back to Messi as false nine.

Griezmann isn't a 9 and at both Atletico and France he has a pure striker in front of him.

He has played as a number 9 along side 1 more like Morata or Costa most season at Atletico, so it's not that far off to play striker for us, who attacks waay more.
He has played 10, 8, false 9, 9, RW and LW. That says to me that he can adapt, and a good coach can make him fit in here. He is a much safer bet to be a success than a youngster, even a youngster cut for the exact role we want. That said, I don't know if he will end up here, this could be diversion-tactics from Bartomeu to give the impression that we have other options than Jovic, so we can get Jovic cheaper.

I don't know, from what I have seen him play he didn't do well when he was up front. I am pretty sure Morata is ahead of him, they don't play two parallel strikers.

And I don't think it is diversion tactics at all, Jovic is wanted by quite a few clubs (us, Bayern, even Real Madrid was mentioned), so it is not likely that if we have other targets Frankfurt will lower the price. They will simply sell him to our competitors.

Don't believe these rumours.

I think Bartomeu (through MD) is trying to put a pressure on Jović to quickly decide to join us so we can then negotiate with Frankfurt.

as opposed to loyal players like (d)um(b)titi who pulled his "joker" when he was ransoming us for a renewal but is now begging for minutes over Lenglet

He's a douche and should be left alone. He will be 29 by this time next year and worse, we don't even know where he'll fit up front and how. Not a very smart move.

What happened last year aside, we simply don't need him.

He will take up the much-needed funds and resources on other key transfers.

I dont think he has balls to leave them after what they did to keep him happy:lol: His french friend lemar with his price tag of 70m was a gift as well and is the biggest flop there.
