Apart from the fact that he's not a pure striker (he's more a second striker, semi false nine), my biggest problem with Griezmann is that his current version is not compatible with 2019 Messi, they're too similar players, and i'm afraid Griezmann couldn't find his place in the pitch.

Granted, he's absolutely world class and a tremendous jump in terms of quality in comparison to Fraudinho, but he isn't what we need now.

I dont think this will happen but if it does he could end up like coutinho. They see in him as a replacement for suarez but he cleary isnt a fit for that role. Same goes for coutinho who should have replaced iniesta and now he doesnt fit that role. griezmann is more like messi someone who needs a proper striker.

We don't need griezmann. he's a second striker he doesn't fit the roles we need. We need one center forward and one left striker. Not sure who will be the successor of Suarez (jokic or maxi lopez wont cut it) but we need Sterling or same quality left striker who both finishes and creates.

Leo won't have the tempo to sustain a false 9 since he will be 32 next year. Still can work out with better finishers. I was fan of Dembele but 2 years he got injured more than 6 months now. That's not good. I'm not saying its chronic etc but we need someone we can rely on the field.

This is the same reasons that made us sign Coutinho.
Signing just based on quality is good if you are playing FIFA, not in real life. Player has to fit into your system and the players beside them especially when you are going to join a superior player

What did he do?

As far as I remember, he had an unofficial agreement to join Barcelona. I think this is the reason why number 7 was not given to Coutinho in the beginning since they kept it for Griezmann. He was even jeered and booed by Atletico fans because of this. In the mid of June 2018 he made a special video in which he informed everyone that he's staying in Madrid saying "My fans, my team, my home. Here, I would make history. At Barcelona, I would just be one more.". For me, this is more than enough not to want Antoine in Barcelona.
