Yup, and they still can't buy Malcom for 40.
You prolly don't know the financial might of French clubs. Bar PSG under QSI and Monaco under the russian billionaire, the record buy is from OM (under their new US billionaire) for 33 M€ when they signed Payet.
No french club bar PSG, Monaco and maybe OL (and that is a big reach) can pay 40 M for a player. Even less Lille that has the worst financial situation of all french clubs. And why would Malcom go to Lille when he left Bordeaux for Barca. Doesn't make any sense.

Based on what ? If Valverde showed us anything , is that he doesnt have the balls to bench senior players nor has he the balls to phase them out. It will be Griez-Suarez-Messi

There is and always has been a complete disconnect between the board's plans and EV's plans. Why else do you think we had no fucking clue wtf was going on with Dembele/Coutinho on the wing and whether Coutinho would ever play as a midfielder (which he was bought for).
Also no clue what formation we were building the squad for, nor whether Arthur/Vidal were bought to be starters. Malcom was supposed to be a rotation backup that we'd rely on regularly, but EV wanted Willian so Malcom was sent to the shadow realm. Complete lack of harmony between the directors and coach.
Almost every other club has a symbiosis between the Technical directors and the coach that leads to a squad built with specific purpose. Not us tho, and EV will do whatever the fuck he pleases with the transfers we bring in this summer and only Griez is guaranteed to start. FDJ/de Ligt will most likely be bench fodder in big games for Rakitic-Busi-Vidal.
So with Griezmann, NEVER expect Suarez to be benched. Dembele will be the casualty in this whether or not it's the right call.

If MDL & Griezmann confirmed this week, it means we have already spent 270M for new signings before CDR. Unlikely we will be in the market again for any potential starter, may be a back up LB..
What a new manager will be for if you already almost completed your transfer market without his input?
When we bring a new coach, he need to bring his ideas and have at least a moderate amount of input on the team building, at least the way Lucho had when he 1st arrived and preferably like 2008 Pep
