Antoine Griezmann

The thing with Messi is he also has more to his game than just scoring goals. That's why I believe Messi can still be a top 5 player in the world till he's 36.

I agree. His field sense, ball control and accuracy is extrodinary. I know he is much more attacking and can be more individually creative/explosive, but he is Xavi or Pirlo like in those qualities, which do age well. So I think he will be able to contribute at top flight until 35/36 probably. Of course he will be need increasingly protected, managed and adapted to, as his scoring surely will dip more and the ground he can cover will dip more, but that is a relatively inexpensive price to keep his genius around.

An aging/mostly walking Messi still has the ability to win games whether through assists or goals.

What's important is to surround him with willing runners/workers to do the 'dirty' work if i can call it that.

Not with guys like Raki/Busi/Suarez etc who are equally slowing/slow themselves. That's a recipe for disaster.

Messi has been walking since Pep's last season lmao. Yet people acting like he had this insane vidal like workrate until recently lol.

Aging? I don't see any digns of aging Messi is like wine he gets better with age

7Km man is gonna be 3Km man in two seasons. Pirlo had hard workers/runners around him.

My hunch is that the plan is to move Messi to CF in a year or so, let him just walk around and have hard workers on the wings. Griezmann then moves to RW and whoever the fcuk on LW

If we only buy griezman we are even worse off in that scenario.

Key passes, La liga:
Messi 2,7
Hazard 2,6
Griezz 2,0
Bernardo Silva 2,0
Sterling 1,9
Dembele 1,6
Suarez 1,4
Benzema 1,3
Coutinho 0,9
Malcom 0,9
Arthur 0,5

Assists:
Hazard 15
Messi 13
Sterling 10
Griezz 9
Bernardo 7
Suarez 6
Benzema 6
Dembele 5
Coutinho 2
Malcom 2
Arthur 1

So, basicall, only Messi and Hazard have better creative numbers than Griezmann.
In our team, he is better on stats than all attacking players except Messi.

How is he not an improvement then?
The only con is for fans who want to see Dembele as a starter.

Stat's don't tell you the whole story bbz, It doesn't take into account team compositions/positions. If we ignore the fact that we will yet have another 100+ round peg for square hole he would need to maintain his form and we'd need to wait for the possibility of Messi having a major injury for that to be a factor and that's your reason for wanting griezman over ndombele...very reasonable.

If we won't buy Griezz, we will have to play Coutinho in attack.

Dembele, you can't rely on his health and form.
Malcom, no comment needed.

So, would you rather have Cou or Griezmann as a starter?

Why does it only have to be between those 2? I'd rather have ziyech/fekir over either of those 2. We could buy 4 players for 1 coutinho or 3 for 1 manchild, better depth just as good if not better.
