Not sure in which universe a starting lineup composed of a 33 year old Suárez that offers little defensively and in terms of pressing nowadays, a 32 year old Messi who is even worse on that front, 27 year old (28 year old at the time of the CL knockout stage next year) Neymar of all players and a 28 year old Griezmann (29 years old next March) will work. Zero perspective in that frontline as well given that Suárez and Messi are only going to decline (Suárez is already done IMO) and Neymar and Griezmann are not going to be better either. How long will the last 2 last on the needed and desired level? 2 season? 3 at most? In regards to Neymar that is a huge question mark even.
I still dont understand why some of us dont want Neymar back but will gladly take Griezmann. At least Neymar had theexcuse of stepping out if Messi's shadow, Griezmann straight up rejected us when we went for him last summer
well there's no guarantees that if you buy young good players , that they will stay here for the future . They could just leave after 2-3 years for the money just like Neyboy did or simply not work , like coutinho.
Different players, different team....Messi/Suarez >>James/Benzema
I would prefer to have Suarez/Messi duo in the middle, assuming Suarez will be a starter. Those 2 together on the same area are capable of defensive output of 1 regular hard working player.
If there has to be a defensive "hole" let it be on the most remote part of the pitch. Easier to cover, than 2 holes leaking all over the place.
Griezmann/Dembele have speed, technique and they should be working in defense + Dembele plays better on the right side. Also, Valverde likes 4-4-2.
Arthur/De jong are faster than Busi/Rakitic, they can control and create and with Messi positioned in the middle he doesn t leave right side empty.
Well, I think Dembele can play just fine on the left, if he gets used to it. All in all I would rather hope for 3-man midfield and a benched Suarez, than a 4-man attack with Griezmann and Dembele as wings. I hope as well as you do, that Dembele will contribute in defence consistently next season, because having walking Messi is "holes" enough. I'm sure Griezmann will, though.
Messi, Griezmann and then Dembele are too good to bench, so the system must be fitted to them. De Jong and Arthur are ready to boss midfield, but with a 3rd guy there like Vidal or Busquets, they would be better off, I think.
