Antoine Griezmann

It's a combination of factors, but of course, him being practically an outsider in this team plays a big part. In the days of Messi and Suarez, the amount of times both ignored Griezmann in a better position to set themselves up was unacceptable.

Like, Griezmann was making a run open, and Messi and Suarez would try some fancy pass in between them. Of course you don't feel great when that happens, and you feel like all the effort you put in is for nothing.

Not to say that Griezmann has been great, but the conditions for him have been terrible as well.

Even when Messi passes to him, he squander chances after chances, cant shoot with his right foot, cant finish a simple 1 on 1 unless he chips the keeper and keeper fell for it, but some keepers already read him well and not duck under and managed to save his shots most of the time.

And for the love of god, he can't dribble. You play at Barcelona, but look at Pedro, Villa, Sanchez, Neymar they are all a different breed. Even prime Suarez was nutmegging defenders.

Can't give excuses for him when he doesnt perform even in the best circumstances. Even for young players like Fati who climbed through the ranks playing a few minutes here and there, he got to where he is today because he delivered. Messi passed to him and he scored. Simple as that.

But Griezmann fans would try to downplay, when he is shit through and through. Blame it on Messi, Suarez yada yada. Barcelona was an absolutely wrong move for him, in terms of playstyle, positional, technical level, and dynamism.

The problem is that the "french fraternit?" doesn't want to leave. The paycheck and the "beaches" are to good.

Look at Umtiti. Dembouz. Now the same will slowly go with the Griez.

"They want to prove themselves".
Fuck they want that. Who will pay them this good for contribution 0. No one. They know it. And they will squeeze the last cent from "stupid" club that offered those insane wages

I blame it on the board. The "fraternit?" is just collecting it.

I'd bench Griezmann for Dembele, but it isn't really fair to compare Griezmann to Dembele and Umtiti attitude wise. Griezmann is one of the fittest players in the squad, very professional. He is just a bad fit.

This is 50% (or less) on him and 50% (or more) on Barto/board, who chased him for 2 summers. That stupid video show, a bad season at Atletico after his renewal, then all of this drama surrounding the club negotiating with him before his buy-out was 120M etc. The warning signals have been there, but the club ignored it, blinded by passion of getting another Galactico.

Now we are here. A 45M before taxes -player who can't dribble, isn't fast and even lost his forte of being lethal in front of the goal.

won't get into the whole argument of him being deliberately ignored and marginalized by suarez and messi as that's idiotic to believe in.

i think we are past it with the "bad fit" excuse. let's just admit that the guy never was who we thought he is.

he had his spell of 2-3 years at atletico when he was very good and for lack of other players shining or the fact that atletico was doing well(CL finals, liga etc), he got that Ballon D'or nomination.

many in here spoke about griezmann as being a world class player when he joined us. i think we got fooled and it's not just only a matter of fit but a matter of him not being that good.

he made a living of having the attacks of two teams(atletico and france) being build around him and two defensive managers that exploited his strong skills.

and lethal in front of goal? nah

Watched him for France today, he's quality and has so much stamina but doesn't fit into our system. We should try to sell as soon as possible

I love this forum, I think it's the most idiotic major fan forum in the world, and it's quite a feat in a world where redcafe exists too.

Griezmann is a world class player, it's a fact. He made multiple great seasons. He was nominated for Ballon d'or. He won the world cup where he was a major player.

But he's not a winger at all, so it's stupid trying to make him one like Barcelona does. He's great as a second striker at the center of the field, that's where he always played in France team. He racked tons of assists and goals there. Even when France made him appear on the right of the lineup on paper (the first years), he was always drifting to the center for short passes with a real 9. He's especially great with a pivotal player like Giroud (good at heading) for combinations.

Why Barcelona bought him to try to turn him into a winger, I just don't know, but it won't happen.

world class forward that misplaces easy passes, hasn't developed some kind of chemistry with any of our players and can't score to save his life. he also likes to perform disappearing acts in all the big games he plays for us.

should we get him giroud or diego costa and start playing like atletico for him to feel comfortable? just fuck off already with the "he doesn't fit" excuse

not the point he's making at all. But it's fitting you came up when krakdol was making the "most stupid fan forum in the world" point.

if you would have learned to read... now go get your shine box.

after spending 220M on him only to play as an invisible 7, i'm sure griezmann would have been praised to the moon and back on other fan forums.
