i was talking about his game yesterday, but waw, im sure that one goal was a banger
It was.
His finishing has been bad. But the main problem is the fact he and Messi don't work together. He only touched the ball 22 times yesterday. I honestly believe he's staying away from Messi because he doesn't want to invade his space. And most of our plays is coming from Messi..... which is a big problem.
I do think he's lacking confidence. If Messi wasn't here, I believe he'd be much better.
Yeah, he was too isolated this game but they've worked together quite well against Juve. I do believe their overall chemistry is improving but Griezmann will never have the same level of understanding with Messi as Suarez did. As I've said in another thread this team has shown some good moments but they are still very inconsistent and a work in progress. We have a new system, players have different roles than they've had in the past and they need to gel together. I might be the only one but I've seen some positive signs of things to come despite not getting good results recently in La Liga.
I also believe a lack of confidence plays a role in both Griezmann and Messi not scoring at the moment. Strikers live for goals. When they are in form and confident almost everything goes in, when they're not their shots go wide or are saved. Sure, Griezmann was never a clinical striker like Suarez in his prime (though he also has missed a lot of easy chances) but when at Atletico he had mostly scored from the chances that he's missing now.
Anyway, I'm not too worried as long as we create chances even if we don't put them away. I think in time things will come together. I'll be more worried if/when we won't create good scoring opportunities.
