Best XI of the Argentines in the PL

Except for the striker position, the team looks great. After his goal vs Liverpool, might be worth a crack to have Lisandro as a striker

First hint of the away Jersey for the WC26 (even though Argentina officially hasn't qualified yet lol). No details on the design but the color will be primarily black with a bit of sky blue and white. The last time Argentina wore black was in WC18. Judging how bad that jersey was, the WC26 away jersey can't get worse.

It'll never happen, but it would be awesome to see a jersey with more gold in it. It'll look beautiful with the WC badge with it imo.

In the U-20 Copa America, Argentina won 6-0 Brazil and really it could have been more.

After the WC26, there is a great group of players coming up and Placente is a highly rated coach, so hopefully the transition is not bad at all. Alvarez, Enzo, MacAllister, Romero, Lisandro will be the leaders in the group.

Hopefully, this group of players win the U-20 WC later this year.

Let's hope so. Argentina has been disappointing in developing many of their younger guys and it feels they lack that superstar power in the new generations. Echeverri might be that guy that change it.

@soul24rage Is Alex Woiski any good? His contract with Mallorca is expiring and Barca reportedly interested in him.
He leads the line well. Strong for his age group & knows where to position himself across the line & when to make his runs. Good acceleration to get away from defenders & solid finisher but a little wayward at times. He's part of a group of potential future nines for Argentina. Castro, Sarco, Veliz, Ruberto all of whom have similar characteristics. None have played enough minutes at a high enough level to really make a judgement aside from Castro who has shown all the basic fundamentals of being a good solid forward option.

Argentina have a wonderful depth in the juniors not just the u20 but u17. They have two incredible jewels in Mastantuono & Parm, wingers coming out all over the place & some excellent CBs & of course Nicolas Paz. The future is bright & it is blue & white. I don't think Argentina has had this much depth since the late 1940s. It's a terrific reflection on the work of academies & youth coaches in Argentina not just in BA & Rosario but more and more in the provincial cities like Tucuman & Cordoba.

Quality in attack but meant a lot of the players behind them had a lot to do. Di Maria is the main worker there.

Think in 2010 and 2014 they suffered a lot from lack of fluency and chemistry as an overall team. It's amazing they got to the final in 2014 because even there I felt they were more individual stars than a cohesive team (though not like in 2010 under Diego).

They were a solid unit & dangerous against sides that came against them. Against bunkering sides they didn't quite have the sharpness to carve teams open. It didn't help that Kun was not fit, di Maria missed the tournament SF & final & that Higuain was always suspect under pressure when it mattered. but the midfield base led by Mascherano & defence even when playing players like Hugo Campagnaro at fullback were solid. And often it is now defences that win cups.

Had Batistuta been around in 2014 & Milito instead of Palacio Argentina should still have taken the title. Indeed three World Cups is a pretty poor return for a national side that has boasted incredible talent from the late twenties onwards. Messi should probably have three World titles. 2006 was so sad & disappointing along with 2014. 2010 & 2018 were chaotic messes thanks to the AFA. It seems now the AFA is financially stable but I hope Tapia isn't hiding the funds like Don Julio used to do.
