I meant Lavezzi is not natural out there in this system. The wide players today were more or less hugging the touch line and had ten men on front of them.

If there is space and the team is breaking I would have Lavezzi but can you tell me one good thing he did today? He looked lost to me.

I dont even think Alvarez is that great but as a touchline hugging winger I would have him over Lavezzi.

Lavezzi is a natural wing forward and works well with the current three upfront. He also works back. Alvarez does not. End of story. Lavezzi did well when he was on.

Not a chance Zanela. Never will be good enough. Ferreyra has plenty of potential, Driussi is a mediapunta with enormous ability. Correa and Gio Simeone. Icardi has all the ability to be a top class striker aside from his off the field activities and attitude.

Biglia and demi, for gago and fernandez improved the team instantly, a bit di maria was injured as they seem to have finally found their best XI minus rojo

Well they won 1978 final against Holland and that is the most important match. I hope Argentina can reach the final.

Losing Di Maria is a big blow. Aguero will be back but not sure in what shape. Higuain getting his mojo back is a good thing but how Messi will link up with him is beyond me still. Argentina had to do more running but far less than the Dutch yesterday. So fatigue is a factor perhaps if the game goes to ET. SO far Argentina had all regular length games and they saved their juices to this stage.

The two early losses were when Argentina were rather a poor team between 1969-1976 and failed to cope with Michels recreation of total football. 1998 Burrito hit the post twice and Batigol as well. How he missed that chance I will never know. Argentina dominated much of that game especially after Numan was sent off.
