I think he is in top 5 if not in top 3. But if you consider his whole career he is not that great. If you consider all the current players prime level and his prime level, he won't be in top 11. But he is still a very good player.

Technically yeah. But Neuer's nomination has more something to do with the way he actually influenced the publics view on his position. I mean he has not invented what he is doing, but has there ever been so much discussion about how much a goalkeeper can do so much more than just the classic stuff that the history of football is used to, while STILL ebing a world class shot-stopper on the line? In around 15 years we will have a fuckton of gk-talents doing this stuff that Neuer pulls off, because Neuer advertized it at a certain extend, while basically 98% of the goalkeeper of the past 100 years of football have done the exact same fucking thing. His nomination is more a sign of recognition for that and in my opinion that is alright, but I dont think hes gonna win it, because he is still only a goalkeeper and furthermore living in the era of the Ronaldos and Messis.

On the other hand Neuer isnt a better player than Robben and under normal requirements he shoudl have been nominated because there is seriously no other Number 3, that is better than Robben since the past 2 or 3 years. It is my opinion but it is also in my view unarguable.
