Arsenal

Semi-Neutral

Sir Alupp Heynrguson
I thought he was way too nervous actually, was scared of skying it and resulted in him putting no power, similar to Lukaku's against Bayern in Super Cup. And we could have definitely gotten more goals, but we won and got another clean sheet, so I'm fine with it.

No need to even be slightly negative. Beautiful football, Wilshere doing great, Wenger rotating and yet another clean sheet.

Poor finishing though, but that didn't matter for Arsenal tonight

EDIT: To add some more positive energy; Wilshere finally back to his best, Walcott back from injury and Cazorla's looking more and more like he's soon ready to start dominating again.

Özil's had two very good performances in a row now. Can't believe how so many are unhappy with the way he's performed.

Indeed. He usually takes penalties that way (he's Germany's first choice penalty taker) and he's never ever missed one, so I guess nervosity was really the issue here. (Not to mention that it was a good save by the keeper. He was going for the corner and if it had gone in, it would have been an amazing penalty.) He seemed nervous quite/under pressure to perform the whole first half actually, or at least until the penalty. I feared it would destory his confidence, but he completely turned it on after that. And the game was won, so no harm done. I liked Arsene's reaction later on, "That's good news for England".

His stats from yesterday are amazing: 1 assist. 2 tackles, 1 interception, 5 key passes, 2 shots on target. Tbf I think many (who are unhappy with him) don't know the way he plays well or don't know much about football. I guess his price tag and "more assists than Messi" stats require him to give 3-4 assists or score 2-3 goals each game in the eyes of some. The only game where he really performed badly was ManU (the first half particularly). Other than that he's been decent to brilliant, albeit the fact that Arsenal's current system without true wing players and "too many cooks in the kitchen" is a bit destructive for both him and Cazorla and the fact that he hasn't adapted yet. This is extremely underestimated by some, switching from la liga to EPL is hard anyway, but Özil especially has never been the most physical of players. Not to mention that Bergkamp (or any other player) started with a so-so first season too. He will eventually prove the trolls wrong. Not to mention that he went there to improve, which he will and already has, defensively especially.
The question for me is whether he will be as good for Arsenal as he is for Germany. Because at RM he always seemed a little hindered, compared to how he played for Bremen, Schalke and Germany.

For the Napoli game, I hope Theo will start. He should be fit enough by then. And Ramsey should be rested beforehand.

Flamini has been getting into trouble with backroom staff over cutting his sleeves... twice. He clearly doesn't like long sleeves. Did it against manu and he did it again vs Marseille.

Agreed it should have been but they very very rarely are - Does any one know what the point of the guy behind the goal is you can see him watching what is a clear rule infringement and he doesn't look to do anything

Early in the season, but they already look like potential champions to me. Just a case of continuing the good form and hoping other results go their way too.

They are looking very good so far, doing what they weren't able to do until recent years - not losing points against the smaller teams. But they've got a very tough December coming up. Everton (h), City (a) and Chelsea(h) . It will be very interesting to see how many points they get from those games. They've struggled against Chelsea in recent times, regardless of it being home or away and City as we know are brilliant at home so far this season.

I'd love it if they win it though, Wenger and the players certainly deserve it.

It's about time you lot started being a good, consistent side again, not that I can talk, Chelsea have been pretty poor the last few years!. I just got bored of all this Tottenham thinking they are awesome(and better than you) business, this season has returned to what I prefer in the EPL when it comes to the top 4 contenders and the performances of London rivals. Tottenham floundering and being the Spuds of old while Arsenal are good and consistent side that look like a title threat. Call me unimaginative(for lack of better word atm) but I will always prefer the top 4 to be the big 4 from 7-8 years ago, heh, but I'll accept City being there at least, better than shitty Spuds!

I'll also say this, feel free to crumble late season so Chelsea can win the title though. ;)

Özil's (great) pass, Flamini's finish. :worthy:

Also, rumour has it Morata has agreed to join Arsenal on loan in January. Would be brilliant if true.
