I can't seem to shake the feeling that Arsenal will still somehow mess this up with City taking the crown ala 13/14.

Top of the league!

This is our best chance to win it since 2007/08. Petr Cech is saving us so many points, and all the other big clubs are in transition.

If you lot don't win it this season, you never will under Wenger. City will probably get Pep next season, United will get Mourinho and also Chelsea will get a new manager.. All of them will spend big again and this is your best chance of finally winning the title after 12 years..

It's such a crazy season this year. Nobody is safe, and midtable clubs are taking points off of everyone. You're right though. It's really now or never

I feel the same.

We play all the big clubs away from home, as well as the likes of Everton/Spurs etc. Throw in the FA Cup + CL, and it suddenly becomes daunting.

Everyone loves to have a laugh at Arsenal now and then, i do to, they always pull an Arsenal once in a while. Besides that, i do quite like Wenger and respect his abilites. True, he hasnt exactly been winning trophies left and right, but he has kept Arsenal a top team for god knows how many years, never a truly bad season. There are very few managers who can do that sort of thing, managers usually dont last long, and time and time again its proven to be very difficult to recreate success or creating that kind of long-term stability around a club in todays football.

No one will doubt his abilities. A top coach no matter what. But this arsenal cant make the last push. Just before 2 seasons ago they were celebrating 4th place like they won the fucking league. They are content with it. When you see arsenal playing you will rarely get the feeling of a solid team. Sometimes they perform great because of their style. They need a change Imo.

They never overperform. That's one of their biggest problems, and Wengers too. He never makes his team play better than they actually are, even if it's just for a month or so. When they face a team that's actually better than them they almost always lose.

They don't need to over perform to win the league this season though.

Which says everything.

Wenger is not a top manager last time they won the Premier League is 12 years ago. Arsenal doesn't have the biggest budget or best squad in the league but neither do Atlético Madrid. They are a club ranked behind the elite clubs, just like their manager. Not average, not top class. An FA cup here and there, that's about it. Their squad is exactly the same. Not average but not top class. Have some good players like Cech, Alexis, Özil,.. then you have the likes of Mertesacker.

Wenger is a top manager and Arsenal went through a drought when they stopped spending and started trying to make money to fund a new stadium.

Still in that time he got them to the top four and qualified for the CL group stages every season which for a team with such small net spend was a huge achievement.

He could have left and taken the easier route to CL success and more titles at other clubs but chose to stay.

Massive if he wins league this year.

I agree with the Wenger appreciation posts.

It takes great skill to keep a team on top consistently over such a long time. Same reason I appreciate Ferguson, to a greater extent these days. During that time, Man Utd and Liverpool had fallen from grace.

At least Wenger never had a fiasco season like the one Mourinho had this season. It counts for something.

Still hope Arsenal don't win the league though.

What does "on top" mean though, 2 FA cups in like 10 years or something is "on top"?
It takes nothing but an average coach to keep an excellent team in an excellent position in the league.
As Galning said, they never overperform. Sir Alex won the league with average players, Simeone too, Allegri, Sampaoli, Mourinho, they all overperformed with the squads they had and are seen as good coaches because of it. Wenger is great at scouting and developing young talent, but a great head coach he is not. I could easily write a page of all the things Wenger did wrong, but so could most guys down at the pub. Therefore I assume you lot don't need any reminding either..
