I guess Arsenal fans are going to hold another protest that nobody turns up to, that they claim is a protest against the board and the manager for being 'money grabbers' but conveniently only ever hold this protests after they've lost. Fickle bunch, if they do succeed in driving Wenger out of the club, and they get some average joe replacement they will end up like Liverpool and regret the day they criticized Le Prof. Wenger will turn it around, he always does.

Poor Arsenal... 7.5 years without a trophy. Doesn't look to be their year once again.

You are forgetting something, my friend ...

On a serious note, top 4 is a trophy. A FAR more valuable trophy than either the FA Cup and the league cup.
UCL qualification potentially provides EPL clubs with £30m, compare that to £1m prize money from winning the FA Cup or £100k from the league cup.
No one remembers Liverpool or Birmingham winning the league cup, Chelsea or Portsmouth winning the FA Cup. Big players, they join clubs who play in the UCL.
Wenger is 100% correct, to sacrifice top 4 for a league cup or FA Cup is a huge step down.

No one remembers you finishing 3rd or 4th either. As you are also rans in the CL in the competition all of the time.

Winning trophies creates a winning mentality and gives you something tangible to build upon.

People remember Arsenal in the Champions league every year. Competing at the top level against the best teams in the world. People remember Arsenal's matches against Milan and Barcelona. No one cares about Liverpool beating a championship side on penalties in the carling cup final.

As for your second point, EPL/UCL win ->Yes. FA/league cup -> No. Finishing top 4 gives a better winning mentality than winning one of the latter two.

It is a bad thing that people do not care about the FA Cup the only reason it has lost it's value is because the 'big' teams stopped trying to win it because the money is else where. I remember when the FA Cup used to mean something, very sad that money has done this, that even teams like Arsenal should see that the FA Cup is theirs for the taking don't want it because it isn't big enough for a team who hasn't won anything in years. The more money poured into English football, the more unprestigious the competitions become.

Only Arsenal fans remember your wins against Milan and Barca the rest of us don't give a damn because you ultimately failed to do anything relevant in the competition.

Well if you say finishing top 4 gives you a better winning mentality, then Arsenal never ever show it :D

Although funnily enough you did show that mentality from 2001-2005.........wonder why..........

Top 4 (UCL qualification) > FA Cup > League cup

£30m > £1m (plus small incentives) > £100k (plus very small incentives)

So football to you is just how much money you earn? This is honestly really sad to see, you just don't get it do you?

That's a totally different scenario, can't compare.

Top players care about Arsenal playing in the UCL. Players like Giroud, Cazorla, Podolski. Players that the likes of Liverpool could only dream of. What did Reina cry out for? That's right... UCL football.

Winning mentality was seen last season, where we were 12 points behind Tottenham, predicted for relegation by journalists and fans alike, but Wenger the magician turned it around and finished 3rd. I don't agree with this notion that winning a trophy allows you to push on to win bigger trophies. Was that the case for Liverpool? FA Cup was almost irrelevant for Chelsea, practically a side dish.

Arsenal should do EVERYTHING to lure Pep.

Man Utd, but more so Arsenal (Philosophy, resources, financial stability, challenge) should be the most attractive challenges in England at the moment. Wenger should realise that it's time to move on (or up) and let someone else have a fresh crack it at. His reputation is slowly diminishing and the longer he stays the worse it will get.
