Who though? And more importantly a new manager.
Indeed. I think ANYONE who took the Arsenal job would look cooler than Arsene Wenger on the touch line. Hell I'd go as far as saying that that is the actual problem with the last 7-8 years.I guess I could give it a try. But I won't wear that silly jacket, my only condition.
They also need a new goalkeeper, a new centre back and another striker.
Not entirely true. You have to consider the fact that we are still in financial debt due to the building of the stadium. No sugar daddy paid the cost, the club took out loans to fund it and until the loans are paid back we will have to make a profit almost every season.
There is money available to spend, true. However, Wenger knows he has to be extremely careful about who he goes out and buys for high prices. The money available isn't in abundance and if we splash out £50m on the wrong player, that's probably no more transfers for another 2 seasons. It's a risk too great to take, considering Wenger has taken some risks in the past and they haven't worked out (Reyes, Jeffers). There's always the possibility of a £50m signing missing a whole season through injury too. That would leave us in a very bad place.
“I don’t know exactly what happened with my proposed transfer to Arsenal,"
“I was very excited about joining them but it never happened.
“From what I’ve been told, the transfer money that was supposed to appear, never appeared.
“And just a day-and-a-half later, Benfica heard about the problem, showed interest in me and quickly hired me.
“But I am sure that Arsene Wenger would have had a lot to teach me.” -- Angel Di Maria
Do you know the transfer amount that the board refused to give Wenger when he asked for Di Maria? 6 million euros. That's just one example of many where the board would rather line their pockets than give Wenger support.
