All Arsenal need is a defensive midfielder. They've been scoring more freely this season than they did with RVP. It's the lack of a solid holding player that is tripping them up. Arteta does his best but it's simply not his game.

Indeed. I think ANYONE who took the Arsenal job would look cooler than Arsene Wenger on the touch line. Hell I'd go as far as saying that that is the actual problem with the last 7-8 years.

Not entirely true. You have to consider the fact that we are still in financial debt due to the building of the stadium. No sugar daddy paid the cost, the club took out loans to fund it and until the loans are paid back we will have to make a profit almost every season.
There is money available to spend, true. However, Wenger knows he has to be extremely careful about who he goes out and buys for high prices. The money available isn't in abundance and if we splash out £50m on the wrong player, that's probably no more transfers for another 2 seasons. It's a risk too great to take, considering Wenger has taken some risks in the past and they haven't worked out (Reyes, Jeffers). There's always the possibility of a £50m signing missing a whole season through injury too. That would leave us in a very bad place.

Do you also know that you had the chance to buy Van Der Sar but refused to pay an extra £1m for him.

and in 2008 Xabi Alonso was about to sign, but the board refused Wenger because they only allowed him 12 million to spend instead of the 16 million that Liverpool were selling him for.

Does anyone really think Arsene Wenger looks at these great players and goes "hmm, I'd rather not spend that extra few million" ? And what about when he says things like "we cannot consider ourselves a big club if we sell Nasri" only to sell him at the last second. He knows that calling out the board publicly would disrupt the club, so he quietly goes about his work and tries his best.

Robbie, I still think that wenger's time at arsenal is over! he used to be a tactical genius these days i dont see him do anything during the time of adversity! and this is a fact that arsenal crumble against every big club they face.

Who would replace him though? Knowing the current board at Arsenal, they'd probably hire Roberto Martinez and tell them to be happy with that.

A more recent case would be Mata. Now you'll have to do with slightly cheaper players who are good, but not among the best in the world, such as Cazorla, Giroud, Podolski and Monreal.
