Koscielny is world class. We've been undefeated for the last 10 games (winning 8/10) mostly thanks to him. He can predict where the game will flow and make interceptions through movement alone. Vermaelen was too sloppy and his head just isn't right this season

Perhaps there has been a Bould effect. The media talked about it at the start of the season, then took back on it after we conceded some sloppy goals in the big games, but overall we've been good defensively.

^ I agree Vermaelen's had a poor season, he needs to improve. Glad Wenger's seen it, despite TV being club captain.

:worthy: 2 years ago that would've been a goal, and Wigan would have won the match. No more Gallas/Silvestre/Squillaci, no more Almunia/Flappyhandski

Depends on who is there first. Kone sprinted behind Koscielny when his boot was already up. Either way, if he doesn't get the ball it's almost a sure penalty. Really risky, but Kone was 100% going to score that if it wasn't intercepted.

Since Arsene Wenger last won a trophy at Arsenal, all other 91 English league clubs have changed their manager.

Could this be considered a trophy too :p

Getting through the group stages every year continually gives us coefficient points which in turn help us get top seeded and get easier groups. It's why we get the easier clubs while the likes of Spurs or City get groups of death

Wenger calling it a trophy is coming back to haunt us , but it really is a huge deal. What we were fighting with spurs for was a foothold in an elite competition, that being or not being in is the difference between signing big players and losing the ones you've already got. For the first time in 8 years, we aren't losing a single first team player. All the other 3 clubs will be changing their manager and possibly going into transition seasons of their own.

This is one of those chances that doesn't come along often, and one we need to capitalize on. If we improve in the right areas, we could win something. All we need is a striker and a defensive midfielder. Gonalons & Jovetic would do it.

Good points, good analysis of how to make next season better. :beer2:

Thanks :party1:

Another awesome fact is that we finished this season with 3 more points than we did last season -- where we had RVP. And 5 points better than we finished when we had RVP, Nasri, and Cesc. Even in the seasons where we lost players, we still improved. Now we aren't losing anyone so it'll be really interesting to see where we end up.
