Tancredi palmeri has just said Arsenal have bid €30 million for Jovetic which is the asking price and will check with Juve whether they will bid higher or not in the next few hours. Would rather Higuain personally at least it shows they are serious this transfer market though.

I'm glad we're getting business done early. Higuain would've been amazing, but it would've been a long and drawn out bidding war that we would lose to Juventus or City. Hopefully with Jovetic signed up, we can quickly move for a top quality defensive midfielder. Fingers crossed that this rumour is true.... been burned before (Mata :( )

Jovetic could be a good piece of business. With the greatest respect to Arsenal current forwards they are not quite title winning quality. Arsenal should look to offload some deadweight ( Gervinho )

Yeah we need someone like Jovetic to link up with the forward line and also make everyone around him more effective. Still, Podolski has been great business on our part. He scored 16 goals this season while carrying an ankle injury all year, knowing he needed surgery for months. Next year he should be twice as good.

I hope Wenger isn't relying on Jovetić to be his main goal scorer next season...

Arteta, Wilshere, Cazorla, Podolski, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud...

Some decent players but where is their consistent goal scorer? If used correctly Jovetić could linkup nicely with Wilshere & Cazorla and create plenty of chances for Podolski/Giroud but I'd say someone like Higuain is still essential...

Never underestimate Wenger. Henry started off as a winger until he was converted into a CF, and that was met with a lot of criticism. Adebayor was incredibly mediocre when we got him from Monaco, and within a year scored 30 goals in the 2007/08 season. RVP was a #10 like Kaka, and told Wenger he didn't think it was possible to be a #9. Wenger told him to try it for a season, and then he became absolutely prolific.

Maybe the same thing can happen with Jovetic?

Could Walcott become that consistent goal scorer?

I don't think Wenger will want to move him. Is he likely to get another winger that will rack up 21 goals and 17 assists in 43 games?

Don't post such numbers here...The Cesc fans will start asking to sell Alexis, Tello, Pedro and Villa in order to buy Theo.

Jokes aside, his stats are impressive.

We're not linked with Jovetic anymore, we're linked with Yaya Sanogo. A cheap, French and injury prone striker.

I'm not sure what to make of the Jovetic rumours. He's not really a natural goalscorer but I suppose its not out of the question that he could get 20+ goals a season. I'm guessing Wenger is hoping that he'll share out the goals among himself , Walcott, Podolski and Cazorla.

He'd bring the best out of Walcott and Podolski imo.

to be fair to jovetic he did score 14 league goals from 27 games in 11/12 which is good, only 12 from 30 games this season tho, he is only 23 tho so its possible he can still improve his goalscoring, he looks more like a number 10 then a lead the line striker tho, it is a lot for arsenal to spend on a player who's goalscoring record is not impressive, i think they should be looking for a reliable scorer first and foremost, i don't think podolski and giroud will ever be good enough for a team that wants to win the premier league personally, i am really not sure what wenger is expecting from giroud, he's a big slow lump who would not get anywhere near the starting 11 at any other top team, he's a bit better then carroll but not by much...
