I'm not worried about spurs or getting in 4th. Our new players from last summer are all injury free, and have had a year to familiarize themselves with the new club/league/country. We'll be entering a new season with a fit Wilshere and Podolski, who both needed surgery last season. Also, we're unbeaten over the past 11 games and will be carrying that defensive record over. Everything went wrong last year and we were sitting in 17th place a few months into the season. This year we've got everything going our way to have a great start.
The frustration isn't from looking over our shoulders, but knowing that the foundation was there to challenge for trophies. If we just spent on a top striker, it would all come together. Instead, we'll slump into 3rd/4th again.
oh my...
here's my prediction for how your season will go:
august/september: strong start, winning lots of games, might even be top of premiership
october: injuries start catching up to you, start losing games
december: wenger promises signings in winter transfer window
january: have been knocked out of FA/Carling cup.
feb: no signings made, wenger reports "we don't want to sign anybody, just players that will improve our team..."
march: out of champions league, morale sinks as another trophyless season beckons
march/april: lose lots of games and sink to 5th or 6th in the table
april/march: typical arsenal end of year fight-back sees them secure fourth place. fans feel happy and report "there's always next season"
july: new transfer market opens, wenger promises to sign quality players....
let's see how things pan out then. i hope your version of events is true, but while its true you haven't lost anyone to injury yet, your optimistic plan quickly falls apart if there are injuries to just a few key players.
