Yeah.
Because the most physical Barca in the last 10 years (a current one) is doing really horrible.

+20 points advantage over Rm with only one defeat in 5-6 Months.

We can't allow our team to continue playing in this way.
This is a disgrace.

Coutinho-Alena/Denis-Arthur should be our midfield for the future.

Also, about Xavi, didn't he said that Samper will be his successor?
And iirc, he even liked Seri, right?

If Xavi is planning to build a team around these type of players, I am not sure that I would like to see him anywhere close Barca's bench in the future.

If Xavi's estimation about Arthur will end similar to Samper's and Seri's, we will be on the market looking for a new Cm quite soon.

Do you really think that the point lead is all about these workhorses and not about Real/Atletico Madrid just being poor in general as well? That said Barcelona are playing well but it could be prettier as has been all season.

I have said it before and it's worth repeating that this is the first Barcelona squad since Cruyff's era that has as many workhorses. And while these workhorses have played important roles in the past like Keita and van Bommel the midfield was never awash with them like now... Rakitic, Gomes and Paulinho. These guys thrive in a more direct system.

I find it seriously difficult to comprehend that you are a Barca fan who has watched them play for any number of years because what you're proposing is a complete abandonment of the clubs style and values. How much do you want to bet that with a fit Coutinho and Dembele this side will play with only one workhorse at any given time or not at all? I'm seeing evidence, whether you like it or not, that Barcelona are working their way back to a variation of tiki-taka.

That you've already written Samper off despite his obvious talent beggars belief to be honest. It was always going to be tough for him to break into a team with Busquets in it. I think you'll be very disappointed at where the club is headed with Alena's and maybe even Arnaiz' impending promotions and their continued interest in Arthur and Griezmann. Soon it will be about technically gifted players again with a workhorse as tactical option and not the other way around.

Samper's problems isnt only busquets, he just isnt good enough, he cant play in first squad at low table club, how he should then play in barca? He isnt young talent anymore

I agree completely with bbz, these signings are hit or miss, including dembele

I am far from a Samper fan but he has been plagued by injury. What criteria are you using when saying he can't play in a low table club?

All signings are hit or miss for various reasons. Look at Denis, Gomes, Vidal, Vermaelen, Arda etc...

Dont you think if samper is really worth it, pep would invite him to city and have his "busquets" there? Are really every coach until now clueless about samper or guy just dont have it?

I think Samper is pretty solid. His performance against Leverkusen was impressive. I'm not sure why he was loaned to one of the poorest teams in La Liga, his talent is obviously wasted there. He's definitely better than the likes of Munir or Halilovic.

If you ask Xavi about any player these days he will say they have Barca DNA.

Like? He has already said that some of the current players lack the Barca DNA. And he is right...

People criticise Xavi now for what he says but he was brought up in a philosophy where they weren't taught to just play the game but rather to understand the game in terms of timing and space as well. You see it every time Busquets, Messi and Iniesta play. It's non-existent in players like Rakitic, Paulinho, Gomes, Vidal... Busquets is quite often pulled out of position to provide an outlet for these very players because they don't possess the necessary technical or tactical skills to evade challenges or draw opponents to create space for another. In an ideal world where the players are aware of these fundamentals Busquets would only ever patrol the centre circle because he can distribute anywhere from there.

Why would he do that when he has Fernandinho and Gundogan? Why hasn't he invited Busquets?

Has it ever occurred to you that certain coaches have plans that don't suit a certain type of player? Anyway, I think Samper was sent to Las Palmas to play under Setien, but he left... Jimenez was starting to show faith in him though prior to his injury.

Lol. We will return to technical players ONLY if they will be able to bring results.

Remember that "our famous style of play" has brought us only 1 CL title in 107 years of our history BEFORE Messi.

If the only two options are:
1. Playing with technical players, play beautuful, and not win Cls (as always)
2. Or play less Barca's way, like this year, and having more chances in a Cl
= I will always pick a no2 option

I would like to have both, beautiful play and Cls, but again, our style of play and Cl trophies DON'T go together, unless if we have Messi to save our asses.

So, fine, you are a fan of a beautiful play at all costs.
I am pragmatic and less romantic. My goal no1 are trophiess.
Not exactly in Mou's way, but trophies are always above beautiful midfield passes, lol.

He said it about Seri, and IIRC about most Barca signings like Denis for example
I doubt Xavi watched Arthur or Seri or those players that much, would take his word with grain of salt.
In all honesty, there isn't much he can say if he was asked about players we are linked to but to praise them

Who says playing with workhorses gives us a better chance at the Champions League? I mean not one knockout round has been played yet...

As far as technical vs workhorse goes all you have to look at is the signings that have been made and the potential signings. All of them apart from Paulinho are technical signings and a far cry from Lucho’s.

And I’m not beauty at all costs because I understand the need for workhorses. What I don’t understand is why we have a gazillion of them currently but I have no doubt that Coutinho and Dembele will put them out of their misery.

I don’t rate Seri much but I admit that he could function in a system like Barca’s. I’m a fan of Denis though because there is a lot I like about him but with both Coutinho and Iniesta here now he will see less and less playing time.

Listening to some of the guys here it seems as if we park the bus and rely the buildup on workhorses.
I think we are playing beautiful, we are creating a lot and most importantly, that we are scoring enough.

Of course, there've been some dull matches, but less recently. There's been quite a lot of passing and Barca-style actions. Additionally, the team has been doing much better defensively and is tacticly improved.
Can't each manager have his own way and idea?

If i want to see a workhorse team, i can go watch EPL.
You can also say it the other way around, how many CL titles have we won since Pep left?
1, and only becouse of the technical individuality of MSN.

I rather watch Barcelona play beautiful than win alot of empty trophies.
Right now were not playing good football in the midfield. Hope it can become a little bit better with COutinho, and if we get a controlling midfielder.
