If his knee holds up and we play a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 hopefully, he'll definitely dethrone Rakitic I think. He's a lot quicker, very mobile, as good technical and a bigger goalscoring threat on top of his grinta and aggressive nature.

Of course he can. Busquets won't be dropped and Coutinho is going to play as a midfielder. It leaves one spot open unless we play a 4-4-2 which I doubt Valverde will as it's been reported he's preparing a change of system and he's trying that out in the pre-season too playing both 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1.

We need more pace, mobility in the midfield and Vidal beats Rakitic out there easily. Vidal can do everything Rakitic can, but better.

Plenty 'physical' type players have give a few good years in early thirties.

Keita was still good for Barca when left at about year and half older, Fernandinho was very good for City last season and is two years older, Toure was still a top player at City at that age etc.

Vidal is not that old.. potentially three seasons out him and still be 33.

Yeah completely disagree on that one but to each their own.

I wouldn't be against benching Rakitic more often if so then it should be 100% Arthur to take his spot and not old Vidal.

Doubtful to be honest. I think Valverde sees it as way too risky and weak defensively. Malcom/Dembele are not midfielders.

This actually isn't a bad deal at all despite his age. Would give us a better option off the bench compared to Munir and Paco. Pace, strength, aggression. Maxi Gomez is great too but Celta would fleece us.

His release clause is 50M but there are rumours they are considering selling him for around 35-40M to EPL. If we'd really like and want him money shouldn't be that much of a problem. Main obstacle is we don't have a free non EU spot after signing Vidal and we also couldn't guarantee him minutes he'd want.
