YESSSSSSS!!!!!!! Atletico you beautiful bastards you. They proved that they are here to stay even after being picked apart by Chelsea as well as enabling a meltdown for RM and Ancelotti. People insulting Atleti and Koke don't really know football outside Barcelona, their football is of a total tactical and mental unity. Defensive it may be but they are all diligent and passionate soldiers on a single mission. Aesthetic? Probably not, but I can say that the only time I felt the kind of energy and spirit for Barca last season was in that 4-3 Clasico while other teams like Athletic and Atletico engaged my emotion much more with their collective effort and drive.

Simeone is probably the toughest guy in football. Tragically loses the CL final because of a stoppage time equalizer, loses star players to the very English club that he demolished, and has his team practically written off by a majority of football fans. That didn't stop him, not even nearly. The moment Atletico's training began, they were doing daily triple sessions and Cholo was demanding that they buy more players to continue being contenders. His job is one of the most difficult to do yet he raised them to his level and has been immortalized for this team.

+1

I agree with every word.

I hope that Lucho can be our very own Simeone. Atleti's passion on the pitch today was something else, and I'd love to see Barca play with so much heart, week in week out.

do you think fifa will do anything about this? Ronaldo clearly wanted to punch someone.

I think Ramos wanted to punch the ball into the net too if I'm not wrong. I saw a Real player raising his fist to the ball before Moya jumped and grabbed the ball. I think it was Ramos. :VdB:

EDIT: Yes there he is! Punches that flying! :neymar:

18 pages till I last posted. Going through some of them, it looks like the derby didn't disappoint this time. I missed all the action, but fortunately I've the full match available.

btw,
Congrats to Simeone and his boys! :emotions16:

I didn't see live just how dirty that CR punch was. Absolute scum! Deserves to get at least a 3 match ban for that!

You don't really see in the gif how much Godin pretty much had an armlock around Ronaldo's neck. Ronaldo tried to shove him off, but Godin was hanging on like a pitbull. That's when Ronaldo started flailing. Can see it much better here, especially when slowed down:

If anything, your video further proves that he should get banned. Atletico plays dirty, everyone knows that. When Pepe or Ramos tackle the shit out of Messi or grab him by the shirt everytime he runs, you don't see him turn around and punch. Lots of grabbing and pulling goes on in the box during a corner, especially in such big rivalry matches. That doesn't justify trying to punch the crap out of the player.

There was clear malicious intent by CR. If this occured in any other sport, it would be an easy 3-6 match ban.

Those people are retards. We were clearly the best team that year.

Or Chelsea fans

The kind of thing that Godin was doing happens all the time during corners. It was rough play (the kind of thing that happens to Messi all the time), while Ronaldo punching him was basically assault.

It's a bit like that debate about the Brazil vs Colombia match. Yes, Brazil were playing rough and fouling Rodriguez, but what they were doing was rough play, which happens all the time. Nothing compared to Zuniga assaulting Neymar.

Like it or not, rough play like what Godin was doing is part of the game. Punching people isn't. Nor is kneeing people in the spine.

It takes more than just the most money to create a great team. Do not bet against AM, this is just their first trophy for this season. Finishing above this team will be a major accomplishment.

They're a weaker defensively than last season with Courtois and Luis gone, but they're better offensively with Griezmann and Mandzukic in the team.

About Ronaldo, he should have gotten at least a 1-2 month ban if Suarez got 4.

I'm not saying it's not a red card (and Godin at least a foul), but it's easy to see how it escalated. FFS, Godin's feet are barely on the ground, he's hanging on Ronaldo's neck trying to drag him to ground. Ronaldo's right arm first flails at Godin's head trying to shove him off, but Godin keeps his grip; the second time, it is almost the same motion, but, twice the intensity (a.k.a. "a punch"). Its intent is the same as the first flail: "get the fuck off me!" Sure, it's a red card and Ronaldo lost his cool, but the intensity of fighting between the two was already just barely on the other side of the line. It didn't come out of thin air, it wasn't premeditated with malicious intent.
