Barca to re-consider Qatar deal

It is 2015 not the 80's ,football clubs have to drop their traditions for money sooner or later and whether it is Bartomeu or someone else the name will change to fund the renewal of the stadium

People will still call it the Camp Nou, regardless of what the official name becomes. Unless the new board decides to build a new stadium instead of renovations.

It depends on what you consider a better choice, i.e. a nice looking name/sponsor or more money. We should take the biggest offer and run with it.

Exactly.

I think people stick to much to this idea that Barca strips and stadium etc are pure and should not be tarnished.

That stopped years ago and the has been dripping in the Nike symbol for years. A company which has been linked to child labour, workers in inhumane condtions etc.

If Qatar offer the best deal then take it.

I don't even get people problem with Qatar ,I mean political reasons?give me a break
We should go with the highest bidder ,Qatar shouldn't be in favor as it seems that Rosell and board had strong connections with them ,it should be pure business decision for the better of the club

We should name the stadium for as much money as we can get, and rid our front shirt of sponsors. I wouldn't mind a sponsor on the back instead of unicef, if it must come to that. We can get nearly as much money as we do now while sponsoring ourselves, have the best looking kits among elite clubs, and return to our tradition.
Some people act like a front sponsor is unavoidable, even rationalize advertising brands that tarnish fcb by association
I strongly disagree with that line of thought and hopefully our next president will see it that way

Better to have a shirt sponsor than naming the stadium IMO.

And we can do a much better job with expanding our fanbase in the Asian market.

Could generate much more revenue just on that.

How can you think that ? I don't give a shit if the official name of the Camp Nou is Qatar Camp Nou or whatever else. So what ? Everyone will still refer to Camp Nou as Camp Nou. Front sponsor is a very different thing.

I don't mind renaming the stadium as it will still have Camp Nou in the name and it's not a new stadium. Spurs are rebuilding their ground on the same plot of land and they will sell the naming rights. Some will call it white hart lane but most will call it by the new name as its a new building.

Because the official name of Camp Nou would become Qatar Camp Nou or Emirates Camp Nou or PowerPuffGirls Camp Nou or whatever.

A front sponsor will have no effect whatsoever as long as it's not a corrupt, shady sponsor. We can have great looking kits if we have good designers and people who don't have their head stuck up in their ass giving a thumbs up for those useless designs Nike dish out all the time.

The kit this year(except the 3rd kit) is beautiful. The only problem is Qatar Airways and not because it ruins the shirt, but because of the Qatar association.

We get in the excess of 30m euros every year by Qatar Airways.

Real Madrid will get around 25m annually over the next 20 years for renaming their stadium to Abu Dhabi Santiago Bernabeu.

Now would you rather have a shirt sponsor(and we could get the likes of Turkish Airlines, Samsung and others and get around the same we're getting from QA right now) which is something we can renew, find a new sponsor, re-negotiate the terms so we can get more money out of it if our performances remain good while we expand our fanbase or would you rather have something slapped aside Camp Nou for the next decade or two?

I would rather a sponsor for the stadium and return to Unicef in our kit. Looks better this way. However I would like a nice sponsor still. Like Intel Camp Nou. Or Coca Cola Camp Nou. No Qatar Petroleum or Emirates nonsense.

I'd MUCH rather have something "slap around Camp Nou" because I will always call it that, as will pretty much any culé, no ?
you also act like having a front sponsor affects in no way the esthetics of the kit which is (respectfully) bullshit.

Shirt Sponsor and Stadium name for my liking, the more money the better.

We can probably agree to disagree, however I have one question, what do you think about this season's home and away kit?
