WC players, whether young or not, have been signed for very fair amounts. While we habe signed average or below average players like Digne, Mathieu, Vidal, Gomes and Turan for 20, 20, 18, 35+ and 40mil.
We have been spending money unwisely, on quantity not quality, for years now...and as our golden generation ages, it's showing. When we do buy quality lately, like Neymar and Suarez, KNOWN quality they have been good and influential for us.

really some top clubs you wrote above didn't get great results (mostly city and united)...
it's difficult finding players to the barca level and useful for our play...
imo we don't need (absolutely) of top players (we already have a lot of stars in the best of their carreer), but players able to play as valverde wants...
anyway keep calm...
if it will be necessary, certainly the management will buy great players.

Chasing so-called "world class" players is unwise though. Because that means we will chase players like Thiago Silva and Verratti all summer.
We need to buy smart, focusing on value in the market. That means buying the best players from smaller leagues like France, Germany, Italy, Brazil etc who are still young enough to develop further. Not chase "world class" players from Chelsea, PSG and other rich clubs.

I'm not talking so much about buying from oil rich clubs. Using just this last year as an example....the likes of Bernardo Silva/Gundogan to City, Pjanic to Juve, Hummels to Bayern, Kante to Chelsea etc...
All players who performed at a WC level at their previous clubs and were bought at very reasonable transfer fee in today's market.
How is it the FC Barcelona, who are in desperation of midfielders and a RB, are unable to make signings like the one above? Makes no sense.

Yes and that solution you are referring to is having 2 other top midfielders. Which in hindsight is desperation.
You want to compete with the best, you have to be able to compete with your opposition in all areas of the game. The Barca midfield is nowhere near the level of Real, Juve or Bayern. At this point it's even worse than the midfield talent of both Manchester clubs.
Messi creating everything for us is no excuse to have such a poor midfield.

i would say something also about the midfield of bayern and juventus (no so better than ours)...
i agree only about real madrid (after a lot of years where fcb midfielders have been better)...
the transfer market is just now started...keep calm...
i'm sure we will buy great/useful players for our midfield...no doubt!

What planet are you living on? The Manchester clubs have invested record transfer fees on some of the best midfield talent of this generation. I don't understand what results have to do with anything, we have MSN who managed to score 0 goals in Paris and Italy. So what? Doesn't take away from how talented our attack is.
Juventus is on course for a treble and Real just won La Liga and possibly winning 3 CLs in 4 years. And you are going to sit here and try to convince me that somehow we are on level with these guys while having invested tons of money on donkeys like Arda and Gomes?
