Barca Transfers and Rumors

I'm not sure what to feel of this ridiculous presser

On the one hand, you can say, 'hey, at least he's truthful' in saying our players haven't received offers. But it looks so stupid when you then say they are the best in the world and it's hard to improve on that  Either way, these pressers are meaningless.

I don't think Valverde understands that for a team to compete for UCL, league and the cup, they need to have top players in every position, and a balanced team. So far it seems he is managing the expectation of a team like Athletic not Barcelona.

Valverde is not going to say he needs someone as Verratti to succeed when the club can't buy someone expensive. And it will also make him look worse as a coach. It's a press conference, they are prepared and don't say things that can harm the club.

Nothing wrong with that presser. I couldn't agree more that a squad like ours isn't easy to improve. We signed a promising RB on our construction site position and the CM-position is pretty clear. We want Verratti, but we don't talk about him because it would make Nasser even more angry. They tried it already in an offensive way which ended up in a weird Verratti-statement.

How about you use your prominence to convince them that we can have Jorginho as an alternative.

May be that's the only way for the board to notice this gem

Well, in general they are right it's hard to improve our best XI in most positions.

We absolutely have offers for the players we don't want to sell but there is no need to discuss that publicly because we won't sell them.

About the players we are prepared to sell would you expect them to publicly said they suck and lower their price? Of course it's the right thing to say they are all intransferible but if a good offer will come they will sell them. And for those players also don't make any sense they would publicly admit if they'd have offers. For all we know they could negotiate a transfer for one or more of them right now.

Anything that is said in those type of pressers is just a political talk. They don't want to speculate about our players future and they can't talk honestly about the players under contracts with other clubs.

Presser was totally fine by me but of course if you expected them to say we'll sign Verratti or we'll sell players that you want us to get rid off then it's understandable that you find it ridiculous.

expensive? The club is welling to pay 40m+ for a garbage like Paulinho then surely can afford to pay top money for quality players.

If they don't have the budget then they can't. What has that to do with paying to much for someone else who's price is not even close to Verratti?

You prefer Rakitic over Gomes ??

Gomes is only 22 and will ( indeed did ) improve season upon season . Rakitic is 29 or 30 and is unrecognisable to the player some two or three years ago . He seemed to have six good months but seems to be steadily declining every time I see him play .

I'd use him as makeweight to get Verratti if it's true the PSG manager loves him to death and wants to work with him again .

Just my opinion ..

Honestly if it was any other 22 year old vs Rakitic i'd agree with you.

Rakitic did have an under par season, probably not helped with the rotations Lucho did.

But i've never seen as many bad performances by a starting midfielder as Gomes ever for Barca, I just cannot see the potential in him.

Personally i'd let Gomes AND Rakitic go if we were to get Verratti, and then decide next season who replaces Iniesta!

Well Zidane knows more about football than any of us and he was apparently desperate to sign Gomes so that's good enough for me ...
