Barca Transfers and Rumors

I urge you to not listen to these people. His low center of gravity and great ball control makes him a much more creative player than simply a player who can "do the dirty work and play simple". He plays deep like Pirlo or a young Verratti (not saying he is at their level), but he is able to get out of very tight situations and makes the game flow very well.

Another player with a low center of gravity we really ought to focus our attention on is Malcom from Bordeaux. A Dembele-Messi-Malcom attack look very good to me.

I get your point, but what I want is someone who can deliver a defense breaking pass. If he got that then yeah I would go for him. If not I might look elsewhere tbh. Big talent in both cases anyway

Someone that makes those needle passes on the ground that cuts straight through the whole oponent team.

blue being good buy
orange being okayish buy
red being flops

i gave dembele and paulinho orange as it's too early to tell if they were flops or good buys

our squad is so damn average when you see it listed like that. shocking to think we bought some of those players

I haven't read this thread for a while, but have there been any rumours linking us to Arthur from Gremio? He looks like he would be a great fit for our midfield with his passing ability.

We need hundreds of millions of investment in this team to get back on top. Far too much being asked of Messi.

We've lost our only really saleable asset though (given Messi's worth nothing now with his contract).

I think the thing we need more than money is a good scouting team. The talent is there, but we seem no not recognise it. Also our coaching stuff must give young players more chances at least in the league. Our office has some kind of tunnel vision when it comes to buying players. They wanted Coutinho and they failed. After the first bid was rejected, we should have turned to other options, but there weren't any because the board didn't do their job properly (Ironically, Liverpool did the same with Van Dijk and as the result we are stuck with ageing Iniesta and bad Rakitić and they are stuck with terrible Lovren). I hope we sign Goretzka in January, because Schalke will do anything to sell him. He said he wants Bayern or us, so we should have some advantage, because Schalke will be reluctant to sell to Bayern. If the reports are true, we can sign him for 10-15 million which is a steal for a young promising midfielder (unless Bayern bumps up his price with biding). Also if we scout a promising young player (like we did with Semedo this summer), we should go for him instead of 25+ old expensive players.

What players do we need?

Goalkeepers: We are good here for quite some time.
Defence: We need to buy/promote a CB (or recall Marlon) and buy a backup true RB (or promote Palencia). We also need to sell Vermaelen.
Midfield: We need a playmaker, a controller and an all-round midfielder. If we can find a player that ticks two of those, better for us. My favourites: playmaker: Lemar/Alena/Coutinho, controller: Seri, all-round midfielder: Goretzka. If we can get Goretzka for 15m in January and Lemar for 90m in the summer, our midfield would be instantly better. Also we need to lose the deadweights (Gomes, Rafinha, Turan) and sell players who are likely to drop in their value (Rakitić).
Attack: We need a striker who will replace Suarez. Preferrably one that can also play as a LW. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are names that spring to my mind. If we can ship any of the deadweights or Rakitić or even Deulofeu as a part of the deal, we should do it. Also sell Paco.

But the season is still long and there can be young players who will show their potential during the following months.

I also believe that if Messi leaves in the summer, Bartomeu will need to run for his life out of Barcelona.

I would have gladly traded our talent scouting team for Dortmunds.
They just sold Dembele for 150m to us, and have 4-5 more talents they can sell for 50m+
They also sold Gündogan, another CM that could have done well for us.
We could have gambled on Dahoud aswell.

Havent seen much of Maxi Lopez in Marseille but hes apperantly quite decent.
I think Goretzka is a bit to "big", would rather have smaller quicker players like Coutinho (for the AM position)
Goretzka has quite good top speed, but his acceleration arent the best and that might hurt him in the Spanish league.
Im a bit afraid hell be another Gomes.
Xavi wasent the quickest in speed, but his quick thinking brain, dribbling and low gravity made up for it.

Ye, it requires shitloads of money.
Probably need to spend ~200m only on midfield.
Every game is pretty much depandant on if Messi feels like playing that day or not. If he has a bad day, we loose.

Prime Reus would be ideal for us right now. LW who also has instinct of real striker. We would play total football on highest possible level with Reus-Messi-Dembele upfront

Think we need to get a striker this winter. Paco is finished with Barca and we need a B option, at least.

Paulinho runs + tall striker in the box when we are chasing results could be an answer.

I keep hearing that, but when was the last time we actually implemented such a "plan B"? Our coaches dont focus on such kick and run plan Bs. Our strikers are always supposed to be mobile and able to function in the build up play.

The tall striker as a plan B wont happen.

Pep tried that with Ibra the year after Barca struggled to break down Chelsea but when push came to shove he wouldnt change the style of the team to go more direct.

Barca either need a young player happy to be back up for now or an older player happy with less minutes.
