Need to get rid of players before we sign anyone else.

Arda, Paco, Gomes, Rafinha, Vidal and Vermaelan.

Ramos is 1.84m and wins headers like no player. Umtiti very good at leaping up to win them too, although his timing in general seem a bit off right now.

Don't need to be very tall to win those headers. A lot of it is about your movement and timing. And delivering a good cross. Alba cannot cross for his life.

That's just for starters.

It's amazing how much deadwood we've accumulated over the last few years and yet we still don't have a playmaking midfielder.

That. We also need to speak with clubs of our transfer targets before the window, so we can see if they are willing to sell. If that is an absolute no, move on and find another target, or better, multiple targets. Our dear usless board should be sending the enquiries before the start of the window. I don't know why can't they even write down on paper their potential targets, something like:

We need a striker, who can also play on the left wing. Preferrably very comfortable in both positions, young, good in the air and fast.
Ok, our options are:

-Griezmann
-Martial
-Rashford
-Werner
-Icardi
-scouted promising youngsters
-Other

Let's send enquiries to the clubs and see who and when is willing to sell and for how much. It also should be noted that if Griezmann goes to United, one of Rashford/Martial will surely search for more playing time next season (more likely Martial), so we can get him.

Our board should be doing things like that. Instead they want and see only one player (like Coutinho at the end of the summer) and want to sign him and only him.

The problem is that we have to pay teams to get rid of some of the dross we accumulate every year. Its a huge problem.

Romario was 1.69 and he used to cause havoc with headers too.

martial would be gold! martial, messi, dembele. and my perfect mid player remain eriksen.
Although Eriksen is a stunning player I’d much rather have Coutinho. He doesn’t offer you the control Eriksen does but he gives you more options in attack.

My ideal midfield would be Coutinho as 8, Aleñá as 6 and Busquets/Jorginho as 5.

Agreed on Martial though...

Martial would be difficult as United won't need to sell obviously but if they get Griezmann in January it could restrict Martials play time even more if they shift Mhiki to the wing, im sure he'd jump at the chance to join Barca.

using this on FUT18, imagine a front 3 in the future of Martial-Mbappe-Dembele :worthy:

Are there no players we can get on loan?

Surely there must be some veterans or promising youngsters who are not cl tied who we can get?

We need short term and long term signings. A couple of good loan signings would help the squad immeasurably. It's clear Valverde has no faith in some players eg Turan, Paco and also looks set to discard Delofeu and Gomes or limit their appearances to cameos.

Ok, since most of us agree that we need a LW/ST player and a CM I'm interested in what are our options. Here is what I brainstormed:

LW/ST:
-Griezmann
-Martial
-Rashford
-Werner
-Icardi
-Dybala
-Malcom (shifting Dembele to LW)

CM
-Coutinho
-Lemar
-Goretzka
-Seri

What players would you add to that list and what are your preferences. It also needs to be said, that we need to take into consideration the fact that Messi will probably never play on the RW again and that we will be using 433 false 9 tactics. For the LW/ST role I would pick Martial, because he is younger than Griezmann and he is a bit more natural on the LW. My first preference for the CM role would be Coutinho, but as we all know Liverpool is much better defending transfers than their goal, so I would rather secure Lemar than be involved with another Liverpool saga. If we can get Goretzka in January for cheap, I would go for him, but still buy one of Coutinho/Lemar in the summer.

In midfield I'd definitely go with Coutinho because he'd give the team a lot of options. In terms of the wing position... It would be a toss up between Martial and Lemar (similar profile to Coutinho but I consider him more of a winger) but Martial is out of contract in 2019 and can act as CF too.

No Goretzka for me because I believe Alena will soon be ready to step up (based on the preseason games). I'd rather go for Jorginho to assist Busquets but Napoli drives a hard bargain and he is contracted until 2020.

I remain unconvinced by Seri. Think he would do well at another team but not Barca, he is a one trick pony...

Dybala is a no go while Messi is still around because they tend to occupy the same space. Could work with Messi out on RW but we know his tendency to drift towards the half space and centrally.
