I personally think a Coutinho/Busi/Eriksen midfield would be fine, especially with Dembele and Griezmann in the starting XI.

We don't want to 'waste' Coutinho, it would be so ideal to find him a good partner in midfield that could set our midfield for the next 4 years at least. I have high hopes for Alena and Arthur, but I doubt either will make instant impact on this team like Eriksen would.

I don't like Busquets in the CL anymore. He's a relic of a great midfield era. I don't think he is good enough in the crucial games. Erikson for 100 million. Too expensive. Maybe we can throw Paulinho into the deal and get Erikson for 60 million 😂

I get that guys like Kante aren't available, but instead of getting slow, discount technical players, I'd like someone with maybe not as much technicality, but a lot of pace and legs. There's plenty of players like that, strewn across smaller clubs. For example, someone like Thomas Partey, before he moved to Atletico.

I think this is desperately needed, aside from the WC reinforcements obviously required in midfield.

Just taking the eample of Thomas Parte, if you watch him play, he plays a very similar role to what Rakitic does. He's great at taking the ball forward too, and has pace, unlike Rakitic. So irrespective of the strict position, we need a pacy substitute for Rakitic. Busi will obviously continue doing his thing at DM.

Yeah, I watch most of their games. He's a good player, as you said, has some pace, carries the ball forward, strong... but don't think he'd make it here. Doesn't strike me as an intelligent one.

I'm trying to think of a faster CM we could get... Do you have any ideas?

We also bought Alexis Sanchez for 26M. That is kind of a Mohamed Salah deal - low fee for an immense talent, I would say, so we are not completely hopeless.
Maybe Ter Stegen even counts? Tried to get Dembele before Dortmund as well, and got him in the end - also praiseworthy.

But I get your overall point: There are not enough inflow of great young talent.
