Barca Transfers and Rumors

Semedo took several blows in recent months, first was the Roma game, then he wasn't included in Portugal's World Cup squad. Currently he's considered a substitute of Sergi Roberto, who's natural position is in midfield. If Semedo doesn't start the season on fire I fear a recurring Andre Gomes type of meltdown for him.

There was never a performance based meltdown with Gomes.. he’s just been plain shit every game since he got here. Semedo had some great games then Valverde decided to start rotating with Roberto then both were inconsistent.

Not signing a RB would mean the directors trust and plan to use Sergi Roberto and Semedo in this position. The very thought of the disaster CL Roma game Semedo had makes me wanna punch some furniture nearby.

Pjanic is not coming, Rabiot and Parejo are just filler type of material, if not smokescreen for another big name.

 If we're basing things on that particular Roma game we should have replaced the whole team this summer, because everybody was fecking shit.

Both Roberto and Semedo are very good players. You don't need world class material in each position. No team has that anyway. Both will do their job fine, but also both will make mistakes, especially if the defense is failing as a whole like it happened last season several times.

I'm actually hoping this can be a breakout year for Semedo because Roberto's time to develop into an elite RB/MF has long gone.

Agreed . Seems like a nice guy .. decent impact player with his runs forward but he's a liability at RB ..
He used to scare the life out of me with his careless passing

What bothers me is that we are ruining a potentially good midfielder like Roberto because Semedo is not good enough. Semedo is very very weak in terms of defense.

He's been tried in midfield plenty of times. Roberto is only in the team because he is good at RB

While Roberto might not be a world beater, I'm pretty content with him. He's a likable boy with great attitude always giving his best. On top of it, he's a very good player. I'd have no problems with him being our starting RB. Especially if he improves his defending.

Regarding Semedo, I do believe there's talent, seems obvious. Has great characteristics to succeed. But won't do it playing with his head down.

Sergi is a solid squad player and that's pretty much it. In terms of his development he's hit his ceiling a long time ago.
You talk about ruining Roberto when he turns 27 in just 7 months.

Mina, Digne and Vidal sold in the next few days.
Gomes,Marlon and Alcacer left. The hardest ones to sell will be Paco and Gomes.

Rafinha did a great 6 months in Italy. Surprised he doesn´t have good offers.

Depends on what we are offered. I'd sell for 25

It’s good that we’re finally clearing out some of the deadwood but depth is something that we should keep in mind. That’s why I think a guy like Rafinha could be useful. Not a bad player at all and contributes way more than Gomes and Denis. If we’re planning on bringing in a couple more quality midfielders then maybe we can look at moving him.
